You truly are blessed. We are all blessed, but when you get to look at a GT-R everyday, that's an extra blessing.

Those quad pipes = drool

It's hard to tell how many HP your car has as each engine was hand built. Yours may have more than what Nissan reported to the press.

I thought those were illegal to have in the states due to some safety issues? Anyways, nice car.

The "Skyline" has never been sold in America. The ones people go crazy over are the R32, R33, and R34 ones. They are GT-Rs but were never sold here due to emissions standards and supposedly if you got hit in the side the doors weren't reinforced enough and the windshield was weak.

However, there were several companies out in L.A. shipping Skylines here to the states but you had to pay a price. The last I've seen a decent mid-90's Skyline will cost you at least a nice $30,000.

The GT-R is now no longer part of the "Skyline" lineup and is apart from it. It's kind of like the Supra being part of the Celica lineup and it was the Celica Supra for the longest time but then Toyota just made the Supra a different car from the Celica. Nissan is doing the same with the GT-R. It's not considered a Skyline anymore.

I'm a BMW guy, but 335i is no match for the GT-R. The E92 M3 is a different story.

I had my 335i with a chip putting out 450ftlbs of torque and 400 hp! It would stay right with the M3. I was running a 12.8 1/4 mile @ 114mph! The M3 still wouldn't be able to hange with the GT-R though. I test drove 2 Z06 Corvettes and a Lexus IS-F. I really liked the IS-F, but it was about the same speed as my Bimmer. I liked the Z06 but preffered a back seat for my child. One of my closest friends is the VP of All-American Fitness and he has a Z06 with 650hp. I ran him from 55-140 and he had me by 3 cars. But, from a stop, he didn't have a prayer.

AlboSooner

The GT-R is faster than the M3, but I like M3 because it is the blue-print. They are like the Oklahoma of cars. What did the King used to say: nobody knew what a champion was, Oklahoma invented it. Like OU, the M3 may lose a few games here and there, but overall the pedigree is as good as it gets.

Nobody knew what a sports car was, BMW invented it. As a pure performance car, the GT-R is 2-3 seconds quicker than the M3 in every aspect. In car world that's quite a bit, but the GT-R is also $25k more expensive. In the real world, that's quite a bit of difference. The Porsche 911 Turbo is the real competitor of the GT-R. They are in the same price range.

I think if you want a daily driver, who has a naturally aspirated engine producing 414Hp, with plenty of luggage space, back seat, drives comfortably, a blue blooded pedigree, and race-car like performance, the M3 is hard to beat, IMO.

All of these cars, GT-R, M3, Z06, are more of a car than I am a driver, so which one drives better day-to-day? I'd say the BMW.

Personally I respect the heck out of the GT-R, and I like the more analog, natural feeling, fun loving, high revving, rear-wheel driving machines.

Those STI's and Lancer Evo's are bad pieces of machinery. Very similar to a GT-R, just on a lower scale. I've had a Jeep SRT8 and Nissan 350Z. My BMW 335i would torch both of them. I've reached the pinnacle with the GT-R though. Can't really say I want anything more.

I'll never get you little hopped up foreign job guys. Yes your little cars are quaint, cute, and yes some of them are pretty damned fast, but I ain't driving the POS unless it's got a V-8 (or a V-10 Viper) and sucks high-octane fuel like Linda Lovelace on Johnny Wad Holmes.

I was looking at a Shelby the other day and the Ford guy goes "you really need to try one of the new Mustangs with the V-6. It gets 300-something horsepower." I go "I don't want 300+ horses that feels like a gnat between my legs. I want 500+ horses that feels like a ****ing car, not some high school kids wet dream.

That's what's good about the world of cars. There's so many options out there for everyone to choose from. Different strokes for different folks. I kinda like the exclusivity of the GT-R, or I could have got a Vette for a whole lot cheaper. There's only 231 of my car in that color in the world.

i can get over 20MPG, do like 150MPH, carry 4 passengers and handle ice and snow like a champ

your Viper ain't gonna do most of those :D

C&CDean
11/15/2010, 06:47 PM
That's because the Viper is pushing 200 mph, and while I'm hitting 100 mph, you're just catching 2nd gear and wondering WTF was that that just sucked the paint off your buzz bomb?

Momma's Ford Fusion does good in the ice and snow too. You don't see me pimping them, and they can carry 5 people comfortably. Plus it gets 31 mpg.

GT-R is way faster but it's just a different car altogether than the F430 (as you know). It's...just raw, unrefined ridiculousness. The F430 is a surgical instrument to the GT-R's jackhammer.

I'm an idiot for selling the M5. I'll replace it before the year is out.

I think you can get an '06-'07 M5 in the $30k-$40k range. BMW left a bad taste in my mouth with my 335i and all the fuel pump issues, but I absolutely loved that car.
