Has anyone been there? If so, how was it?

...thinking about booking a trip.

I haven't been but I know someone who took his wife and small kid. They really liked it. But it is definitely a tourist area. Lots of people. But they place is nice, they have beaches, a waterpark with a slide that starts at the top of a pyramid and goes throw a tube in a shark tank, aquariums with exotic fish, good food, etc.

I would google it and try to find people commenting on their experience there. That will give you a better idea of how it really is.

I have been, but it was almost 20 years ago. It is really nice, but all of the Bahamas are both expensive and not customer service oriented. Don't bother with the Conch. It is really chewy and not a lot of flavor. Go with shrimp, scallops, lobester tails, flounder and grouper. The lobsters in Florida and the Bahamas do not have the big claws so the tail is all you really keep to eat.

Went there for a week about 7 years ago. Nice place. Very luxurious. The beaches at the Atlantis are mostly man-made, but the water park is fun. The aquarium in the hotel is amazing. Some of the art work in the casino is very impressive. Food is incredible, but expensive. Kids will have fun, especially teenagers. Make sure your bank account is flush. For my money, I'd stay on Cable beach and eat at the local places in Nassau. But I'm not really into the big resort experience. There's a bus that runs along Cable beach into Nassau for a buck a person. You can spend a day at Atlantis and I think you can buy a day pass to the water attractions.

I've been to Nassau and it was a terrible experience. It was several years ago though. We we're constantly offered drugs by people that we would pass by and our hotel sucked. Hopefully, things have changed and this looks like a great place for a vacation.

It's a local scam that the police are in on. Drug dealer offers to sell you weed for a good price. You buy the weed. The drug dealer calls the cop on his cell as soon as you're out of sight and gives him your description. Cop finds you and busts you, collecting a hefty fine for the local coffers. Cop gives the weed you purchased back to the drug dealer and he sells it again to the next unsuspecting tourist. (No, this did not happen to me. I used to go to Nassau for two weeks every year for work, and the locals filled me in on it.)

I believe it......I did get the idea that the place was pretty corrupt. Too bad too.....it's such a beautiful place. Maybe at this age, it won't be assume that I am a drug user and they'll not offer....that would definitely make my stay a lot better. :)

And if you're craving a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE change of scenery, there's the exact same setup in Dubai...I fly over the damn thing a few times each week.

No way would I go to Dubai....kissing on the beach might get you a prison sentence, if caught. :(

And stroking it in public carries a death sentence.

Best island experience I ever had was on St. Marten. Half the island is Dutch, the other half French. English spoken everywhere and US Dollar is accepted currency. Fantastic food. Beautiful beaches all around the island, but topless on the French side.
