MILWAUKIE -- Police arrested a Portland man for a crime spree last October that involved a series of unprovoked attacks in Milwaukie.
Dispatchers got a call about 9:30 on Oct. 31 about a man who had gone up to another man at the downtown TriMet mall and shoved him to the ground.
About 20 minutes later, police got a call about a large, aggressive man who had approached St. John the Baptist Catholic Church near 25th and Washington.
The caller said the stranger was swinging his arms and flexing his muscles as he jumped onto the hood of a car with people inside. He shattered the car's windshield and ran away.
About 10:25, a woman reported that a large man came out of the bushes at the Milwaukie Market, 10830 Oak Street, and confronted her.
The woman tried to walk away from the stranger, who grabbed sharp rocks from nearby railroad tracks and started throwing them at her. One of them hit her in the neck. She described the man as over six feet tall, weighing over 230 pounds.
Police tried to track the suspect with a K9 dog, but lost the trail.
The next day, workers at a Safeway at 42nd and King reported an unsettling situation with a customer, who matched the description of the suspect from the night before.
With further investigation, police were able to identify the suspect and where he lived.
Mark D. Siebenmorgen was arrested on Nov. 4 at his home, 9030 SE Stark Street, Apartment 3, in Portland.
He was taken to the Clackamas County jail on accusations of first-degree criminal mischief, fourth degree assault, and menacing.
