Also know as the "Barack Baby Killing Muslim Terrorist Kenyan Communist Obama Plot To Destroy America".

A proposal to shave $4 trillion off the projected debt through a reduction in spending and a revamping of the tax code. Some taxes would go up (notably on gasoline) and some would be eliminated (mortgage interest deduction) and some taxes would go down (individual income taxes & corporate taxes).

Meh, they're getting a little too mainstream. Let's bring Hannibal and Ghengis Khan back.

a thread never has to worry about a lack of Hitler references as long as RLimC is on the vigilant search for Osama Bin Hitler

Did you know that each member of this group was paid 800 billion dollars, per day!

Brent Venables and Kevin Wilson need hate and bad comparisons too.

This friend of ours who was born in New Dehli is now a US Citizen. It was cool to see him go through the proper steps to become a US Citizen.

He's Travel Agent for the White House and he just retired and went back to India.

If we're not going to address Social Security and Medicare, we might as well not bother, because nothing else really matters. (http://www.heritage.org/budgetchartbook/unfunded-liabilities-entitlements)

It's going to be an ugly fight. The end of a Ponzi scheme is never pretty.

Yep, you and I or definitely our children will be holding the bag. I have always thought the FICA deduction on my paycheck amounted to the gubment stealing my money from me...

Honestly, I wouldn't put too much stock in this plan ever happening. It's a plan that has the backing of two guys. It's not even a report from the full deficit committee. Nor is it proposed legislation.

By the time this gets around to being something that is voted on (if that ever happens), I would seriously doubt that what gets voted on looks anything at all like what is in there today.

No, nothing will happen. Bush proposed the only plan that would actually work long term.

The bond market will eventually fix this problem for us. Just like they are doing in Europe right now.

I'd much rather fix the source than put another band aid on it.

If by "fix the source" you mean kill off all the old people before they send the country into chapter 11, than I think we've found our solution in ObamaCare.

Tax reform? Every special interest has their own tax break in the code and they ain't giving it up.

I did see it had a proposal to raise the SS retirement age to 68 but I don't think that goes far enough. I honestly don't know how you "fix" Medicare without shifting more of the burden to the old farts, which ain't going to happen.

Bottom line, nothing as ambitious as tax reform or ss reform is going to get passed in the next Congress. Maybe 2013?
