shocker

That 4th quarter 17-45 comeback by Kansas just made it come earlier than expected.

Didn's Hawkins come from Boise State & was highly successful there? Does that say anything as related to the BCS, ranking & conference issues or what?

I wonder if they will be looking for an experienced head coach, or for an OC or DC from a successful program that runs a finesse-style offense to compete in the Pac12?

I guess he couldn't handle Big XII football, brother...

They should hire BV. Please.

My guess is they don't look for someone with head coaching experience like last time... unless Boise's Pedersen is stupid enough to follow in Hawkins' footsteps.

Multiple sources are reporting it is very possible that they're going to hire...Bill McCartney??? I'm not kidding.

Or the fact that he insisted on not recruiting a better QB than his kid?

How do you mean? Hawkins is on record as saying that it was easier for him to coach at Boise State because his teams there had to prepare for one to three game seasons. In the Big-12 it was a completely different animal.

Cool. Mizzou needs to bring back Woody Widenhofer and KU can bring back Bob Valesente. KSU already brought back their dinosaur.

Seriously, if a Chuck Long offense can hit you with 35 points in the 4th quarter, you don't deserve to stay employed.

Maybe they should hire a top offense mind... maybe Greg Davis will be available.

Hawkins is in a no-win situation there combined with the fact the he recruited WAC-level talent to the BIG 12. Not a recipe for any kind of success. And unless your name is Ken Heupel, it's probably bot a good idea to start your son at QB.

One the last point, I think he was down to his third option due to injuries.

But that's DIVISION-I FOOTBALL!!!

Coach "Family Values" McCartney is not such a good fit for the 12-Pac. How about a hippie OC from, like, OSU, dude?

I am not sure if I read it here or on ESPN, but I heard that critics were speculating that one of the reasons why KU came back from such a huge deficit was because Dan Hawk Hawk was letting his son pass the ball during a time when they should have been milking the clock.

Why would Danny Boy do that? Rumor has it that he was trying get his son the school's passing record

I hadn't seen that. It certainly explains a whole lot if it's true though. Idiot.

Colorado's preemptive strike failed when we all backed outta the pac-16 deal. Ah well, at least they'll have some other schools to smoke weed with now

Hawkins inherited many problems from Barnett and the previous AD. But his inability to recruit was his ultimate demise.

oh heck he turned his back on Goodman kicking a field goal against kstate... 2 games in a row he did that... the last 2 he coached.

I wont go into details or sources, the real problems with Coach Dan were in the locker room more than on the field of play. Hard to imagine such a thing possibe but that is what I heard and and it led to the Buffs play on the field the past 5 games. Was there last season too and and when Coach Dan put his son in for Tyler Hansen a couple of games before Tyler was hurt the boil festered ad raised its ugly head.

We will see if this group of kids now come together and respond in a positive way.
