View Full Version : Is there any reason whatsoever that every away game we play is at night?

I really don't understand this at all. Is it a setup, or just coincidence?

It seems like every game we play period is an evening game....except this week. :P

Because we are so good every team we play wants to showcase us?

I dont know, but I somewhat enjoy it because I get to just sit and drink all day and watch football, and I'm in fine form by the time the game starts.

I dont think the BU crowd will be as raucous, drunk, and even large as others weve faced so I dont see it being a huge issue in this game...

I notice that espn does all favorites like that (osu, oregon, etc).

Seems like we only had one of those this year.

I love night games. U would think we could play more home night games but too many of the grey hairs in the crowd shouldnt drive after dark

Because we don't play well on the road, ESPN/ABC wants to show us struggle and if we lose they can tell us how wonderful Oregon and the SEC is over and over.

If we're the better team with the better coaches then the fact that its at night and on the road really shouldn't make that much of a difference. Playing at night is not a valid excuse for losing...so if are games vs Baylor and Okie Lite are at Night and we should be the better team with the better coaching staff so we should win...but really...just watch the game and find out.

I remember when I used to have to listen to the radio broadcast for away games.

Now hand me my arthritis cream.

I miss the old days when just about every game started at 1:15; now most of them end at a different 1:15

I remember in about 2002 when someone listed our stadium lights on e-bay because all our games started at 11 AM.

The thing about 11 AM games... is that no one comes early and hangs out for 6 or 8 hours shopping and drinking before the game. They don't have to get hotel rooms to stay the night after the game. And if everyone's leaving to drive home after the game, no one's staying in Norman to have dinner or drink all night.

The Norman economy LOVES night games. Plus, it not being hot as balls outside means the fans actually have the energy to make noise.

Or the stadium empties by half time like at the colorado game...

That's different.

1. It wasn't just a 6pm game, or a 7pm game. Kickoff wasn't until freaking 8:20pm. At average game length of 3.5 hours, that puts the end of the game at nearly midnight! Hell, at halftime it was after 10:00 already.

2. It was ****ing cold and windy. And yes, I know it wasn't THAT cold - I was at the Big XII Championship in 2000. However, the temperature dropped more than most people were prepared for, since it was freaking 80 degrees that afternoon. Also, with the cold and wind blowing straight in our faces, by halftime my girlfriend and I were totally dehydrated AND spent the entire next day sneezing.

I'm with you. When we were kids, the footbal schedule would say something like "All games begin at 1:30pm until the time change, and at 1pm after that."

THAT, my friends, is the way football should be played.

Wus. I sat through the entire snow bowl in Stillwater in 1985. And that WASN'T snow, by the way.
