Polls have closed here in Georgia.

I can tell you this, if Sanford Bishop loses in the second district of Georgia, then this will be a blood bath for the Republicans. Bishop, a black Democrat, has been untouchable for 20 years. His district has a large black population and he normally wins with well over 60% of the vote. I never thought I'd ever see him lose, but he's in trouble tonight. This could be very telling.

How Americans get caught up in all the BS and dont actually look at the reality, I mean Cmon, what the hell has Obama ever accomplished in his entire life that would make him a good Prez, so what do we do, we elect him Prez.

After hearing Palins speech when she accepted the candidacy for VP I was pumped, she was fudging awesome, she read great from a teleprompter, got me good and fired up. Bulldogs and cheerleaders and all that sh*t.

Well, once I heard her speak from her knowledge and accomplishments, I was thinking WTF was I thinking?

That type of stuff is all too common

Nate, I forget more about politics while I'm on the pot then you could hope to know in a whole ****ing lifetime of "following this ****."

You don't even know enough about politics in your own damned state if you make an idiotic statement like this.

Reid's Senate campaign shook out almost EXACTLY like Tom Coburn's first Senate run against Carson. EVERY poll showed Coburn and Carson virtually tied. What the polls failed to detect were the vastly superior ground operation of both the Coburn and Reid campaigns. Coburn ended up shellacking Carson to a degree the polls never indicated because Coburn had a massive well trained and highly motivated field operation with an excellent GOTV effort. Reid has spent decades fine tuning and perfecting his field operations and GOTV efforts and that's what made the difference.

I hate to sound like an elitist ******* with all of this, but I am just so sick and damned tired of people speaking with such authority on subjects they really know very little about. I don't know a damned thing about physics, but you don't see me arguing with Ike over nuclear fission. Yet everyone thinks they're an expert on complex and intricate political operations. :eyeroll:

:eyeroll:

Go find another hobby Nate and take RLIMC, Jaun, and Tuba with you. VERY impressive, sicem

You reject the likelihood of significant fraud in the Dingy Harry election. It's difficult to believe Nevada is so effed-up that they wouldn't throw him out, in favor of almost anyone.

So SicEm, who do you think is the pubz'z best bet for taking out Obama in two years? I still can't find anyone.

Nobody. Absolutely nobody. I still think Obama wins in 2012.

HOWEVER, I have high hopes for 2016 or 2020. I think Rubio or Rand Paul would make a phenomenal candidate after some seasoning in the Senate.

There are a lot of really great young up and coming leaders within the Republican Party, and for the first time in a long time I have some hope for the future of conservatism within the Party.

But for 2012, I really don't see anyone. Maybe Mitch Daniels, the Governor of Indiana. Homey mentioned Christie in Jersey, but Christie is a bit of a hack. I absolutely would not want to see Palin, Huckabee, Barbour, or especially Perry as the nominee.

Part of me thinks Obama is gonna keep playing the blame game and it will cost him in 2012 if the pubs can put a team together with more than half a brain and some common sense. The only one I think that MIGHT have a prayer would be Bobby Jindal.

What about Demitt?

At the moment, there are only 3 Senators in the United States Senate worth serving in the office they hold. Tom Coburn, Jim DeMint, and Jeff Sessions.

I adore Jim DeMint, but I don't think he has any interest in running for President. As great as I think he is, I have a hard time seeing him in a Presidential type role. I'd love to be wrong though. If he decided to make a run and started putting together a strong campaign team then I'd be one of the first to jump on his bandwagon.

Jindal won't win the primary. As wrong as it is, his name and Indian-American status will be his downfall.....regardless of his approval rating, Ivy-league schooling, or Roman-Catholic background. If I am wrong about this, I would greatly applause the Republican party.

Jindal is another possibility. Jindal slipped my mind earlier when I was thinking of potential candidates, but you're absolutely right.

The only question about Jindal is the same question about every potential GOP nominee, can he put together a national base of support? Jindal may have the best chance of doing just that. I mean, if a Republican of Indian heritage can win a statewide election in Louisiana of all places then surely he has the kind of broad base of appeal needed to put together a national campaign.

You have to lack testicles to vote against a person with no brains? People here were ready to vote Reid out big until Angle got the republican nomination.

I was speaking about Angle being the only candidate with the guts to speak publicly about repealing useless, bloated bureaucracies. I don't know about what things she said that were perceived as stupid. I'm sure that, not being a polished gov teet monkey, she seemed out of place.
That said, if i lived in Nevada, I would voted for a feces smeared spider monkey before letting Reid continue his song and dance.
That's just me though. Apparently Nevada thinks he's swell.

I absolutely disagree. Republicans of alternative heritage are starting to win all over the country. Black Republicans, women Republicans, even Nikki Haley in South Carolina is of Indian heritage and won...in South Carolina!

Everything about Jindal, other than being Catholic, would normally be a huge liability in Louisiana but the guy won and is well liked.

Racial and background issues are far far less important than they used to be in the Republican Party and in fact, they're becoming an asset as the party tries to build up candidates that have appeal beyond the normal white base.

One of the most remarkable things about this election has been the number of young conservatives with backgrounds well out of what would normally be described as a typical Republican background. We have blacks, indian-Americans, hispanics, dozens of women, etc.

In the past, that always scared me because they were typically fairly wishy-washy "conservatives" that I had absolutely no use for. But this younger crop is made of much much better stuff. We're talking true fiscal conservatives with a strong belief in a limited-constitutional role for the Federal government and a greater respect for state power. This is all fantastic news, and as critical as I've been of the Republican Party for the last several years...I now have some hope.

If this younger generation of Republican leaders can kick the establishment Country Club/Wall Street/John McCain wing of the party to the curb then the party is going to have a lot of success over the next decade.

In fact, even though they're more conservative, I think they have a better chance of finding common ground with Democrats on some issues. I was amazed that CNN properly analyzed this angle earlier tonight, but this younger group of conservatives is far far less beholden to financial special interest groups, the banks, wall street, etc. This should give them a lot more flexibility in working with Democrats on some financial issues.

There are a lot of positive possibilities here.

I couldn't possibly agree more. I may as well resign myself to the idea that "crazy" people don't win.
So I guess I'm stuck with a pretty good group of young pubs.

Hey I applaud that. POTUS is an entirely different thing, though. I would venture to say even Dems who voted for Obama (and now think about voting Rep.) would balk at Jindal b/c of the Indian background. Again, I want to say that I disagree with this tactic. I want the best guy for the job, regardless of race, religion, etc. I am not saying Jindal wouldn't be the best guy for the job. I just don't believe he would win. And the reasons (real reasons, not what they say publicly) would start with the Indian background and trail from there. I having absolutely nothing against him, but Jindal will "likely" face the "is he really Christian?" questions as well as "can we really trust him?" questions. Its not right, but for POTUS, is comes up every time.

Jindal's been out all over the country for the last 3 years building a coalition really under the radar. It's the same way he won the governor's race here. After he lost to Blanco in 03, he never stopped criss-crossing the state to build a coalition for his run in 07.

The kicker for Jindal is the crazy Louisiana election cycle. He'll be running for re-election next year when he should be building for his presidential run if he his going to run in 2012. I look for him to run in 16 rather than 12. He definitely seems to have national aspirations. He's done everything he can to avoid raising taxes despite all the budget issues, much to the chagrin of my wife who works for LSU, which has been facing the axe.

So, what I've learned from this thread is that a caucasian male will never hold the office of POTUS again and that there's a whole lot of people with faux indignation and outrage over some of the successful candidates.

Get over it people. Ain't nothing gonna change other than them taking the urinal out of the Governor's mansion and replacing it with a bidet.

And those worried about Fallin being another Keating? I hope so. Hell, he got my car tags down to a max of $95 and also got the stupid vehicle inspection law out of there. At least that's something. I will give Brad Henry credit though. He locked himself up for the past however many years it's been since he got elected in a closet and didn't do dick. Sometimes that's best.
