You should be happy with the gains in Congress, my fellow Republican.

You should be happy with the gains in Congress, my fellow Republican. You realize, of course, that many of the people getting elected today are NOT Republicans?

So why would I be happy?

Ah, they're conservatives. Evil. Gotcha.

Me, I'm happy. :)

Can't wait to see whomever just got elected **** it up tooWhat I find funny is that as early as February they will have to vote on the debt ceiling. They either shut down the government or get to tell their ideologically pure constituency about how they **** the bed on everything they were elected to do. My truest hope still is that we can negotiate a smaller budget coupled with a repeal of the Bush tax cuts. Either way, the Tea Party is about to be faced with actual governance, good luck to them.

Actually governance happened for another candidate 1 1/2 years ago. How's that working out?

Ending the War machine would be a good way to save money. But then you'd have unemployment skyrocket when they got back. We're really f'ed and i don't see a way out of it.

Actually governance happened for another candidate 1 1/2 years ago. How's that working out?Depends on who you ask. While you might disagree with the platform, I would say that legislatively Obama was very successful. There is quite a bit more to Congress than politics, there is policy, and in order for things like soldiers in the Mid-East to be housed and fed, they must be funded. There are checks and balances, and the Congress will have to work with the OMB to fund these projects, or do you think that somehow Boehner will face a different fate than Newt if he attempts to do the exact same thing. I am thrilled that the Republicans are winning, because generally a divided government smiles on the market, but I still would like to see pragmatism.

You or I could be legislatively successful with a super majority. Looks like the people realized their mistake.

You or I could be legislatively successful with a super majority. Looks like the people realized their mistake. The Dems are a big tent and as far as I am aware unanimous consent within the Senate still exists, so I think the Republicans dismiss Obama at their own peril.

Hillary 2012 is what we will hear for the next year. We'll see, how Obama will work with a Republican congress is an unknown, he could turn out to be effective against opposition, if he's not there could be a challenge from another Democrat. I have a hard time believing Bill would stake his legacy on a contentious or failed bid by his wife against another sitting president.

You do realize how ridiculously rare it is for an incumbent President eligible for another term to NOT get his party's nomination, right?

And if the Democrats run Hillary instead you can GUARANTEE a Republican win. I said it three years ago. Hillary is NOT electable as President. Never happen.

Yes I do, thank you GHP.

Rumor is and I say rumor....that there is a growing split between Dems. It never really went away from the 08 primaries when Hillary won all the regular votes and Obama stole a bunch of caucuses.

All they need is one scandal....and it's Hillary to the rescue. I do believe she can get elected if the pubs throw out a moran like McCain or Palin again.

GottaHavePride
11/2/2010, 08:43 PM
OK, a correction. Hillary could win against Palin. But not if the Republicans put up a "fo' realz" candidate.

For instance, this Jim DeMint guy could probably walk away with the election easy.

MSNBC just said the same point. Over and over and over. You must be giving them your talking points.

And I say don't raise the debt ceiling. It's time we deal with the coming depression instead of kick the can down the road. This is all really meaningless. hard times are coming and we're all gonna be in it together.

I know, it feels so weird having all those freedoms back that were taken from me.

Think of all the children that will no longer have to go to school with a socialist "S" on their foreheads anymore. God bless the Republicans.
