View Full Version : How to see India on $200,000,000 a day....

Wonder how long his trip is?

The US would be spending a whopping $200 million (Rs. 900 crore approx) per day on President Barack Obama's visit to the city.

"The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit," a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.

You are right - every administration has done it and each time the other side bashed them for it. I think the issue this time though has a little more merit due to the number of people going over, and the total cost. The cost being harder to handle given the state of our economy. Yes you have to balance domestic & foreign policy, but push come to shove you have to concentrate on home. I would think he could easily cut that cost in half. 3,000 people?

I said this earlier in this thread.
If they're really spending 200mil a day, or even just 200 mil on this entire trip, it is so offensive it is unbelievable.

There were 308 million Americans in Dec. 09.
The average family now has 2.6 people in it.
That equates to 118,461,538 families in the US. Just under 120 million families.

You could literally give every family in America 1 million dollars $1,000,000.00, cancel this trip and save the US tax payer over 80 million dollars.

Just think about that! Truly obscene!

Math is hard... :D

Hopefully USA Today will be more highly thought of by everyone.

Strange that they never actually say how much it will cost.

So 3,000 people, 34 warships, and then this:

Since it is difficult to monitor such a congested area, they came up with a quick solution which left the Indians accompanying them amazed: A bomb-proof over-ground tunnel — to be installed by US military engineers in just an hour.

The tunnel would be a kilometre long and measure 12ft by 12ft — enough to let Obama’s cavalcade pass through. The tunnel would be centrally air-conditioned, fitted with close-circuit television cameras, and will be heavily guarded at every point, including, of course, its entry and exit.http://www.dnaindia.com/mumbai/report_tunnel-for-obama-near-mani-bhavan_1461946
