Nice to see Fitz slimmed down and worked hard in the offseason. It's nice to have leaders committed to working for this team rather than trying to show off for the NBA. Let's see how it goes.

Stoopified and myself have been on the same page for a while now, I predicted a winning record, 18-15, 17-16ish...I am actually getting more and more excited about this team, while I realize we will struggle to compete with some of the better conf teams, I think we can have a successful season

When we were really good we struggled with the type of team we are now. I am OK with the role reversal for now IF we can play that role WELL.

Currently OU is down 6

Looks to me that our shooting is hurting us over anything.

capel's really switching up the rotations. even abdul ahmed is in.

Collier11

In exhibition games, the result isnt really that big of a deal, like when the D2 school beat Syracuse last year.

Capel is working on getting his rotation sorted out, figuring out who can do what, who is good in what sets, etc...

calvin newell = fast

he's got a bright future here. pledger is going to be a totally different player this year. i know it's just northern state, but he looks much more comfortable with the ball in his hands. and he's not just sitting on the 3 point line. he's actually taking it to the hoop and maximizing his athleticism. (only 3 of his 12 shots were 3 pointers)

BBS is doing the recap right now and got really confused. said we trailed our biggest deficit by 11 at 73-62. Then we were finally able to tie it up at 51 all, and won by a final of 75-64.....

wish i had known about this. i didnt see it at all

http://www.soonersports.com/allaccess/index.html?media=206831

This is what I take after seeing that

1) Blair has tremendous vision, I can tell im really gonna like him
2) Our whole team seems to be pretty versatile and good passers
3) Newell is lightning quick
4) Pledger looks like a completely diff player, hope it stays that way against good D

definitely noticed that too. they've been talking about good chemistry all off-season, and it's obvious that they do have it.

soonerbub
11/3/2010, 08:32 AM
They're gonna need that "chemistry" when they face adversity which oughta be in a few days. I have zero expectations after last night--BTW the team that beat the 'cuse last year would've beat nsu by 40

did TJ Taylor play at all? I thought he was supposed to be a bigtime player but I didnt see him in the highlights at all.

Alot of our points seemed to come off good passes, something we didnt see a whole lot of last year. We're not gonna be very good, but at least we look unselfish with the ball.

just read in the paper he suffered a concussion about a month ago & hasnt been practicing much & so they kept him out. neal also hurt his foot & didnt play in the second half

Hard to get a feel from what the game was really like only watching the highlights, but on the highlights they did show, there looked to be some promise, granted it was against Northern State. A win is a win though.

I like the all red shoes a few of the guys were sporting.

badger
11/3/2010, 11:03 AM
So I am checking the box score... wow, our men were down at the half, eh? Well, good for them for fighting back for the win in the second :)

I am also looking at free throws - 21 of 31? Oh my. But, big kudos to Pledge for getting to the line 10 times (8 of 10).

Anyone at the game? Any word on attendance, game atmosphere et al?

Also, is 04 on hiatus?

ouleaf
11/3/2010, 11:41 AM
It looks to be a true tale of 2 halves. If you look at the box score you'll see how much better we played in the 2nd half as opposed to the first

Northern State
TFG% 1st Half: 11-26 for 42.3%, 2nd Half: 10-27 for 37.0%, Game: 39.6%
3FG% 1st Half: 5-9 for 55.6%, 2nd Half: 1-11 for 9.1%, Game: 30.0%
FT% 1st Half: 6-8 for 75.0%, 2nd Half: 10-16 for 62.5%, Game: 66.7%

OU
TFG% 1st Half: 10-30 for 33.3%, 2nd Half: 15-27 for 55.6%, Game: 43.9%
3FG% 1st Half: 4-15 for 26.7%, 2nd Half: 0-2 for 0.0%, Game: 23.5%
FT% 1st Half: 5-10 for 50.0%, 2nd Half: 16-21 for 76.2%, Game: 67.7%

1st half, half of our shots attempted were from beyond the Arc. 2nd half, only 2 were taken and our over all FG% was much better. Also notice the improved FT shooting in the second half as well. Definitely likes to see that the team got better as the game went on....something I wish our Football team would make a habit of as well.

Oh, and official attendance listed at 3192.

Just watched the last few minutes on the internet. The crowd looked like the women's b-ball games in the 90s.

I'm not sure what people expected considering we only had 3 guys returning from last year's team. I think we should be able to expect improvement as the season goes along (Of course I thought the same of last year's team). At this point though, beating Coppin would be a good start.

At a university like Oklahoma we shouldn't have to sit through and support a product as poor as this year's team is and is going to be. Those responsible should be sacked, immediately.

Even when KS was taking teams to the Big Dance every year attendance was not something to write home about. Even when BG was en route to the Naismith we weren't selling LNC out :(
