Thinking about taking the family down to Waco for the Baylor game. Any suggestions on places to eat, where to park, etc?

The parking situation sucks. I'd recommend getting there pretty damned early because otherwise you'll be parking in someone's yard for $10.00.

There are lots of great places to eat in Waco. It's one of the few things Waco has going for it. The downtown warehouse area is full of great restaurants.

I'll put together a little guide when it's Baylor/OU week.

i don't remember parking being that much of an issue. i'm not afraid to walk though.

it seems like i usually end up in that hotel sports bar that i can't remember the name of after the game

I don't remember there being much parking there. I remember a grassy nole area where we could throw a football around until it got filled in by cars.

Take your own food and drink and just go early.

Yeah, you'll be paying $15 or $20 to get blocked in for thirty or so minutes after the game. :D

This place is great. Not clean but cold beer and awesome pizza and calzone and salads.

Poppa Rollo's Pizza

Waco, TX 76710

They are winning and parking is gonna be a "B". The stadium is very family friendly. Concessions are actually reasonably priced.

I second this. Haven't been in a few years but it's a good place.

Rudys, Chueys Mexican Restaurant, Papa Rollos, Crickets, Ninfas, and 6 5 Guys Burgers are great places to eat. Corn dogs at the stadium are on par with the state fair, and Baylor fans in general are very respectful. this will be my 4th ou game, and probaly 10th game overall at floyd casey. always have had a pleasant experience there.

Not clean? I've never seen that. It's an excellent pizza place and the owners are great people. It isn't unclean at all -- it just has a hole in the wall atmosphere.

Your best bet there is probably the downtown Hilton. I think the Clarion on 4th street has a bar as well.

Honestly though, I'd skip the hotel bars and find a local place.

Your best bet is:
George's
Ninfa's
Buzzard Billy's
Cricket's

If you want to go to a more student, slightly seedier, type bar then head to Scruffy Murphy's or The Dancing Bear.

My personal favorites are Cricket's and George's. Cricket's is great because they have a cigar bar as well. George's is just a fantastic all around sports bar with great food and a great atmosphere. You can't beat a Big-O!

Also, Cricket's has an unreal number of beers on top. By far the most in town.

Uhhhh yeah, mtb bike at Cameron Park when trails around Dallas are closed. Let's see, Vitek's and Georges are two places in particular. Luckily, Buzzard Billy's was open.

I can't fathom why any restaurant would close on Sunday, sends me over the edge, and they are removed from my list of establishments I patronize.

I went down there a few years ago, we were ranked # 1 in the country and the stadium was not even close to full. With Baylor being ranked they may have a bandwagon crowd. I had to park across the street to see them play A&M once.

Wanted to let you all know there are some good tickets available at Ticket City... probably at other sites as well. But after Baylor beat the horns the other night, I figured since I was considering it I might as well beat any bandwagon rush...

it is in Waco Dr. Pepper Museum (http://www.drpeppermuseum.com/). The Dublin Dr. Pepper is a special exempt plant with a small museum. The Waco Dr. Pepper Museum is in the old pharmacy where it the formula was developed.

One of the best game days with a young family - very few, if any, drunks to deal with. The crowd will be 50% OU.

Restaurants are down in the old warehouse district just West of I-35.

ENJOY the Day and . . . .

My wife drinks the stuff every morning, faithfully. Seems like I read it is open from 12-4 on Saturdays. Don't think we'll be to Waco by then. Too bad...

Four of us are going down to Waco Saturday afternoon - two OU fans and two Baylor fans. We will outnumber the OU fans once we get there as we are meeting up with some cousins. Ha!

I'm told that we should be able to buy tickets at the stadium. I hope that is right.

If any of you want to meet up before the game, PM me your cell digits.

I bought some off the Baylor website, my wife has a ministry thing Saturday and isn't finished until close to 3:00 so I didn't want to chance cutting it close with the time we get there. So I went ahead and got them in advance, otherwise I probably would have waited.

Yep, I second the Crickets motion. Been there several times and enjoyed it.

Also, if you want to kill some time with the family you might check out the Texas Ranger museum.

I'm taking my daughter to "Sooner Day" on Saturday in Norman...she a HS Sr. and will probably be going to OU! (Woohoo!)

Anyway, I think it ends Saturday afternoon and Waco is about half way home so if the timing ends up right we may just stop and see if we can get tickets to the game.
