5 wins gets you a bowl game now?

Not normally but there are so many bowl games this year that there will be some teams with losing records invited to fill all the slots.

Hawaii accepted it's invitation to play in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl friday.

Its' possible that once :mack: wins one more game that they could get a BCS Bowl game against Boise if they win out.

Motocross or World Superbike? I know that Hanspree and Corona sponsor the World Superbike series and teams.

I'm not so sure Mack would let them go to a bowl game even if eligible. He's not happy with this bunch & the Horn fans down Houston way are quickly becoming disgusted with all the Texas Coaches & the underachieving Longhorn players. They're mad. They see all these 4-5 star recruits coupled with a $5MM coach and asking "Where's the Beef"?

It would be stupid for Mack to turn down a bowl. That's a few more weeks of practice that they wouldn't otherwise have.

UT plays Florida Atlantic on Nov. 20th, they will beat smellofburbon, Howard Schnellenenbrger. A&M next week at Home, so I think they will have 6 wins and go to the Pouland Weed Eater Bowl.

It would be stupid for Mack to turn down a bowl. That's a few more weeks of practice that they wouldn't otherwise have.

And if they did, the Big 12 would lose out on revenue from the bowl game. It's probably not provisioned for in writing but if a team decided NOT to go to a bowl game and it meant one fewer team from the Big 12 going to a bowl then that team should owe the conference the lost revenue.

I think six wins is mandatory, not just tradition. Ask KSU about it.

SYRACUSE -- There are 35 bowl games this year, and the NCAA’s football postseason licensing subcommittee might have to alter eligibility rules for playing in the postseason depending on how the season plays out.

There’s a chance not enough teams will meet the current criteria, and committee chair Nick Carparelli, Jr. says the NCAA already has begun to discuss the situation. He says there are a host of options if the circumstances arise.

One of those options might be allowing teams with losing records to play in the postseason.

A year ago, there were 34 bowl games and only 71 bowl-eligible teams for the 68 berths.

As the rules stand now, teams need six wins, including five against teams from the Football Bowl Subdivision, to qualify for a bowl.

That last baj post was actually NP, not me. I think teams in the past have snuck into bowl games with losing records, as this article illustrates, because there are so many bowl games, but sometimes not enough 6-win (6 wins against quality opponents that is, haha KSU) teams to fill the spots. With a down economy some bowl games might go the way of Blockbuster Video (which ironically used to be a bowl sponsor, hehe), but it seems cities are willing to do whatever it takes to keep the teams coming, even if it means hosting a bowl game without a bowl sponsor (see the Texas Bowl).

Texas could in theory make it into a bowl with 5 wins, contrary to what "badger" posted earlier. However, I don't foresee it. Hook em
