What's up with the Horn hatred of Blake Gideon. Apparently he took out one of his own teammates with a helmet-to-helmet. I cannot recall a fan base calling out a player quite like this.

Did anyone see it?

proudsoonergal
10/30/2010, 10:43 PM
They were both trying to defend the same receiver and collided. Gideon was shaken up on the play, too.

They are still mad at Gideon about dropping the INT at Texas Tech, which would have sealed a win for Texas, in 2008.

I saw it. It was just a freak play over the middle where the two whorns collided. Luckily, they both got up eventually and it looks as though both of them will be ok. Dont know exactly why they are hating on him for that play unless he gave up some big plays earlier in the game

The two actually have a connection. Kinne, the Tulsa QB, is the son of Baylor grads. His dad was a player and coach under GuyMo for Baylor, and he had committed to Baylor before switching to UT and riding the pine until he transferred to Tulsa.

Anyway, my guess is the Kinne family is doing some celebrating tonight.

Houston Chronicle said today Mack didn't berate his team as he did vs. Iowa State. Said they tried, but better team won. Mack is gracious.

Muschump's shine is wearing off. He's getting lumped in with Greg Davis. Uh ....oh. Things not so good in Longhorn land. I texted an avid Longhorn co-worker before the Baylor game that I bought a Shorthorn Haloween costume and it was a dress. Made him mad. Same guy that made fun of OU last year with 5 losses.

A lot of Horn fans down here can dish it out, but they sure can't take it. At least OU had a reasonable excuse last year (not that Stoops used it) in losing Bradford, Gresham and a host of others. Texas is just plain playing lousy football, but on the other hand, I think Baylor has a pretty good team. Sooners need to watch out on the remainder of schedule.

Maybe their players need some help at counting. Perhaps when coach says to run down 6 yards, 1 past the 5 necessary for a 1st down, they forget and stop short trying to remember how far they were supposed to run. :D

Generally from what I have seen of their games so far, the lack of skill players in the skills positions is astonishing, given the pick of top Texas talent they have each year.

Fun as hell to watch the meltdown though.....:pop:

Secondly, I've seen no improvement in game planning or play calling by the Horns. Time after time, Greg Davis calls pass plays that are short of the sticks on third down.

10/31/2010, 11:07 AM
The Bears over the whorns is huge.

Leading up to the game, it was said that the losses to UCLA and Iowa State were because sa*et doesn't play those teams very often and so was unfamiliar with their respective offensive and defensive schemes, but that they would be prepared against a Baylor team they play every year. Another exmample of whorn logic that applies only to them and not their competition.

It is a legitimate win for Baylor, not a fluke. The Bears not only got the win, but had to come back from a two-score deficit in the third quarter to do it.

Dubious Achievement Award: Justin Tucker tied a Texas record with five field goals.

In other words, they left 20 points on the field . . .

Don't forget that the Texas players also knew the Baylor mascot. Otherwise the pre-game locker room would have went like this:

Don't worry, GD will get a groove against us--I mean, have you seen our secondary? Taylor Martinez Launched a mini-Heisman campaign that will be fueled with clips from our game against NU. I've said it before, regardless of what has happened this season, I will not believe we can beat Texas in Austin until I see it. We may end up ****ing you by losing, however: the offensive prowess you display against us may be the ammunition Mack needs to keep GD around. So . . . ha!!!!!!!!!

Personally I love any team that beats ND at least for the day! After living in SoCal and having a priest pray for Notre Dame to beat USC, I started rooting once a year for USC to beat Notre Dame. I grew up in Ohio and Notre Dame wouldn't even play The OSU then. Not Catholic so I didn't appreciate being with my in-laws and hearing a Priest tell us all to pray for a ND win.
