Oh, Fuzzy's Tacos. Still never heard of them or the pink joint. Any good?

yermom
10/27/2010, 04:39 PM
they have more traditional open faced tacos like from a truck or something, as opposed to something like Chipotle

they didn't have steak though, which kinda surprised me

it's not authentic if it's not wrapped in foil.

it's not authentic if it's not served in a cart and if it doesn't have a rack of al pastor

fixed.

I had Fuzzy's in Dallas after the RRSO. Good stuff. I also like their hot sauce on the tacos.

Taco Platter Made Entirely of Pancakes (http://www.buzzfeed.com/foodbeast/taco-platter-made-entirely-of-pancakes-21z7)

All elements of a taco platter are represented here, refried beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, tortillas…but guess what? It's all made of pancakes! The Pancake Project artists strike again!

Looks like ****. Just what we need, another Texmex place. In Norman you have Freebirds, Chipoltle, Qudoba for buritos. Then you have places like Ted's and Tara Humara's. Put in some place unique, something we don't already have.

yermom

it does seem redundant, for sure. i wouldn't call it "Tex Mex" though

for that we have La Luna right there as well... and Pepe's for Mexican

so, to recap. want a burrito? Fuzzy's, Pepe's, Chipotle, Freebirds, La Luna, all within spitting distance from each other.

i think it adds more than ****ing Subway though. ugh. let's put in a McDonald's while we're at it

$1.99 street-style tacos don't exist in Norman as far as I know. I ordered 3 when I went and they were good. $6 is not bad. I don't eat rice and beans anyway. Quite a bit different than the burrito places. Not a sit down restaurant +tip like Ted's or Tara Humara's. Now...we could get rid of a few burrito places and that would be just fine with me.

there are a few real taco trucks now. one is by Atwoods, i hear. i haven't been there. i've heard only good things.

the one at Classen/Porter and Alameda is pretty good.

I went today and got a grilled shrimp and a crawfish taco. The crawfish was tasty but the grilled shrimp was excellent. Very delicious. Lots of cilantro and that white cheese, both of which I like.

Finally got around to hitting up Fuzzy's.

A.
Mazing.

Had the taco/enchilada combo with some chips and queso and a swirl. Everything was above par. The place was slammed and I'm sure the other 4 messican restaurants around there are feeling it.

Me and momma have been hitting Freebirds when I'm in town. She gets that 3 taco meal deal, one chicken, one carnitas, and one steak. I do the burrito gigante thing. Not the biggest one, the whatever the next one down is. What really makes them good is that roasted garlic they have. That, and the faculty/staff discount that let's us eat lunch for about $12.

Still haven't tried Fuzzy's, but probably will this week when I come home (flying home tomorrow for 13 days - yay, momma will be in Hawaii most of that time - boo).

I used to love Freebirds, but began going to Qudoba when I moved across the freeway from it north of Robinson. I went back to Freebirds the other day and they just aren't as good as I remember. Buritto wasn't as big, wasn't as tasty, and when I walked in the door the buritto builder guy rolled his eyes. They were a few hours from closing and I think they guy just wanted to take his break. I know how it is working in the food industry, but having an employee roll their eyes when they see you enter is a bit of a turn off. Also freebirds just seems dirty and not taken care of. I would rather eat at someplace where they want my service, and don't skimp on the buritto fillins.

I'm not a big Freebird's fan either. I would rather eat Qdoba or Chipotle instead. R.I.P. Moe's. :(

NormanPride
2/28/2011, 06:00 PM
Yeah, Moe's was allsome.

C&CDean
2/28/2011, 06:06 PM
If you eat at Freebirds, you have to do it at lunch. And Moe's couldn't carry Chipotle's or Freebird's guacamole. Moe's sucked.

Fuzzy's is great, a little pricey if you ask me, but a great way to kill an hour or two

Fuzzy's is fairly good. Much better than Qdoba and Freebirds. Chipotle will always be the best
