Muh****ah man! I was just listening to "Damn Right I've Got the Blues" at the gym. The album, not the song. I still think it's one of his best.

I've seen him once at his club "Legends", truly fan****ingtastic.

Saw him at Mayfest in Tulsa...he was a dick.

Great Talent but he let his own problems come between his show and the audience. Demanding people get into your music? Not one of the best Concerts I've ever seen. It was almost a "I wonder who hacked him off" type thing.

I had a little of his music and a friend of mine gave me almost the rest of what he knew Buddy had released. I feel no remorse in never paying for any of his music. If any of you could burn me a copy...I'd appreciate it. :D

LOL....but he was near Greenwood and Archer...a healing place where all of us can learn to respect our differences and learn from it....and even go to a ball game now. :D

Nope. That just started. He was here about the time the Streets really started to fall apart. What I'm talking about was at least 10 years ago I believe.

I've been to Oklahoma three times in the last 15 years, every time I go back the same stretches of the Turnpike are under construction, I can understand Buddy being pissed off by it ;)

I'm currently working on a mix for a coworker, the request included a lot of material from that era. So yes, it not only includes "let's chill" but also a blackstreet track.

The opening to "I Smell A Rat" from Stone Crazy is far and away my favorite piece of Buddy MF Guy material.

And yes chk, I chose a Buddy Guy thread to make my first post here. I feel weird about it too, but there's no need shaking your head about it. I see you.

I find myself most of the time listening to Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, and a few others more than Buddy even though I enjoy his stuff

I'm more of a hard-edged kinda blues guy rather than traditional. Buddy kinda bridges the gap between DJ, JLH and Walter Trout, Joe Bonamassa, Tommy Castro, Smokin' Joe Kubek, Albert Cummings (not Collins) etc.

Guess I'm racist, cause I like white bluesmen - on the whole - better than the brothers, and really like "modern" blues much better than the older stuff. I like older stuff covered by younger honky blues guys though. The Allman Bros. covered a lot of Elmore James and others as do a lot of younger blues guys.

Oh, I feel bad I just now noticed! You know I avoid the stuff I know nothing about unless I'm feeling super snarky that day...
