I haven't read it, but have you mentioned that he's likely the only player that Urban kicked off his team, and ironically the one player that Urban needed this season? :)

Yeah man, but honestly, I don't think he would have been the same person had he stayed there.

One, he would have ALWAYS had to deal with the accusations and the whole negative cloud of the situation. It wouldn't have been good for him mentally.

By going away to a small town junior college, he was able to clear his head and focus mainly on football. He matured over that year.

I believe that time away and that maturation helped him grow to become the player he has now. I really don't think he would have been able to be the same for Florida.

oh wait, he didn't get kicked off. I guess I'll say "let get away".

it was good stuff on your part though.

Dontchya know the one thought that Urban can't get out of his head this season is "it was only a damned laptop!"

Regardless man, he said the fact that Tebow was coming back was main reason he wanted to go elsewhere. Also, he was injured so he would have had a long way to go to catch-up with John Brantley as second stringer.

Can't blame Urban Meyer. As much as I hate the guy and Florida, it was probably ONLY time he decided to discipline one of his players. Bob Stoops would have done the same thing.

I'm just happy with the fact that he's crying his crocodile tears this season and he doesn't have Timmay there to bless them with his tears of holy water.

Technically I dont think he stole it, he bought something that he knew was stolen

not what again?

Leroy thinks that the lowest form of human is a thief, even over a murderer, molester, rapist, and on and on.

Ironically I think the lowest form of human life is a politician, followed by a lawyer ;)

That was the obligatory story he gave police when they caught him. What thief doesn't say that he bought the stuff from someone else?

If he had bought the laptop from someone on campus, identifying the thief would have taken no time at all. But no one else was arrested for the theft, just Cam. Because there was no one else to arrest.

mighty presumptuous of you to assume you're the only leroy in the world don't you think?

Now that was a little better (but just a little). Take notes, Scott.

Personally I'm surprised that a scrambling QB has taken this long to appear in the SEC. They run a lot of man coverage, so you'd think that it would be a no-brainer to get a really good scrambler in there to burn them with their backs turned.

Scott D
10/28/2010, 01:41 PM
I dunno, Touchdown Jesus was pretty good at scrambling.

NormanPride
10/28/2010, 01:58 PM
No, he was terrible at scrambling. But he was big and people bounced off of him so he could rumble for 20 yards or so. Cam Newton is good at scrambling, so he can break huge runs like the one he did against LSU. It doesn't hurt that Les is an idiot and completely forgot that that's how HIS offense works too. Except he's an idiot there too and doesn't do it right. i.e. have your QB not run and try to throw when he hasn't completed a pass in three damn games.

Scott D
10/28/2010, 03:29 PM
their entire offense was him scrambling, and throwing the occasional jump pass ;)

NormanPride

Hand off to Harvin left
Hand off to Harvin right
TEBOW SMASH
Jump ball to Hernandez

He didn't actually scramble much, just run the single wing.

Scott D
10/28/2010, 07:35 PM
now now sometimes they took away the screen to harvin or the jump ball to hernandez. he also threw a fair amount to murphy and cooper. most of his runs were by design, but he did have to scramble on occasion.

I wouldn't call standing behind the center in the shotgun formation like Jesse Owens ready for takeoff, takign a direct snap and running behind a mammoth offensive line for three or four yards a pop "scrambling." The fatal flaw in that offense is you have to pretty much clone your departing senior OL and QB if you want to produce similar results. They didn't develop Tebow at all there. They designed an offense that worked well for them til he and his big uglies up front left. That WR sweep doesn't work so well without Percy Harvin, either.
Typically, the best offenses are the ones like what Leach ran or the pro-style offenses. You see them the most, so even the rookies have familiarity with it. It doesn't require some unique talent or lineup to execute. Texas is struggling right now because they're trying to run Vince and Colt's offense due to their lack of ability to play smash-mouth football like they said they would at the beginning of the year. In Mike Leach's system, it's a quick-strike offense that pretty much eliminates pass rush-influenced QB mistakes and pro-style offenses feed off of the ability to run and wear on defenses.

Back up a second. Tebow did a helluva lot more than that. I know, because I saw him do a helluva lot more than that to us one winter's evening.
