View Full Version : So imagine if we didn't have a big 12 championship game.

we probably wouldn't win the big 12 this year. And realistically not get a shot at it.

hello 2011 - whenever

anybody who thinks 10 teams is the way to go; should just quit now.

then again we would get a shot a Nebraska during the regular season

but imagine a OU, Missouri, Nebraska tie ? ha...

fix this **** now. get 2 more teams.

Agree, it's going to suck. Hope super conference happens sooner than later but I bet it's five to ten years at least.

No! Wait! I thought that we had all convinced ourselves that Joe C. is one smart bastard and that he worked out one hell of a great deal for Oklahoma.

Right?

Right?

Or even adding two more teams would be ok. I could see that happening within a few years. Maybe that's a reason why they wanted to keep the Big XII name.

JLEW1818

TCU would come in a heart beat.

Now I understand that many Oklahoma people don't want another texas team. idc at all. Ft Worth aint far. better than a byu or utah?? i mean come on??

then pick from a Tulsa or even bug Arkansas

So what about when 2003 happens again? Do you then argue that the CCG is unfair? Pick your poison as both scenarios have negatives.

And the Big XII gains nothing by adding another team in a market already controlled, so TCU and Tulsa are a bad idea. Arkansas? Maybe, but I doubt that is going to add much more incentive for a good TV contract.

idc what happened in 2003.

I always want a big 12 championship game. No matter what. I'll take 6 out of 7. (and the 1 loss we went to the national title).

my poison is we only benefit and have never been hurt by a conference championship game.

big 12 championship game 100%. i say it now, i say if a million years from now.

Let's focus on the big XII, the other pieces will fall in place.

I say we wait it out another four or five years before we realize the TV contract money ain't matching up with the other conferences, then do what we should have done this time and go to either the SEC or Pac 10.

That is a better alternative than adding TCU and some other Mountain West castoff.

Well I sure hope they schedule the last game of the season on championship week

so losing Nebraska and Colorado are basically the difference between life and death for our conference? Irreplaceable?

I'm sure we would fair great on the road in the SEC ....

SEC = Suicide

I say we add BYU and Notre Dame. Both have huge national followings, are independent and the current Big XII agreement would allow them to have their own television deals.

What are you talking about? Playing in Columbia, MO is way harder than playing at Alabama. ;)

Doesn't matter to me, if we can't make it through the SEC then we wouldn't deserve to be in the championship game anyway. I feel the same way about back dooring into the Big 12 CCG or BCSCG.

I still think the Big 12/10 falls apart upon the next TV contract and UT ends up in the Big 10/11/12-16.

Yeah, except that BYU and Notre Dame have no interest in joining the conference. Especially Notre Dame.

In terms of finances, yes. We were on shaky ground with those two, let alone without the Denver market now and a brand name in Nebraska.

In terms of being able to go undefeated, I agree staying in the Big 12 will be our best bet. But for teams not name Oklahoma or Texas, it won't get any easier financially.

Yeah I beleive Texas will leave anyone who doesnt want to ride their TV market coattails behind.

The Domers keep shooting down the Big 10, but has anybody else hit on them? Sooners do have a home and home coming up with them in a couple of years, I believe. Plus think about the magnitude of the Holy Wars between Baptists, Mormons and Catholics. Hilarity would surely ensue.

Actually BYU has already began the positioning to get into the Big 12. That's well known!

We (the big 12) are in talks w/ Notre Dame. TX has been doing the courting. Apparently there is interest.

Add TCU? Yeah right! There's a team we aren't likely to go on the road and beat anytime soon. :O

No way we should go to the SEC. As it is now, a "bad" year under Bob Stoops is 8-4. If we are in the SEC, the bad year would be 6-6 or 5-7.

Think of the tv sets our conference would control

State of Texas
Mormons
Catholics
Baptists

I think it is a money maker.

Conference Championship Games are so lame. Were the KSU Wildcats really the best team in the Big 12 in 2003? No, they just beat us that night. Round-robin is the best way to determine a champion.

Until the "new" rule screws over one of the "favorite-son" SEC teams.
Then they'll change it back.
