All the hilarity of * losing to ISU aside. Your team is down one touchdown, 3 minutes to go and your D needs a stop. I don't care what anyone says, 80-whatever-thousand fans screaming at the top of their lungs can help the D get that much needed stop. 3/4 of your fanbase being gone at that point is not a good thing at all.

They reminded me of OUr fans when Air Force and Utah State were rallying. Just sayin. Some fanbases are crazy, even if they're down 50 they're loud. Most fans get nervous when things are in doubt, though. I've been to plenty of so-called "raucous" environments where the home crowd S'sTFU all of a sudden.

Good point. The fans quit too.

Having lived in texas for more than three decades, my observation is that most whorn fans are of the band wagon variety. I'm not suprised their fans quit with the game still on the line - that alone shows their character, commitment, and / or general knowledge of the game.

I went to the game. The great thing about everyone leaving was moving down to some great seats for the last 8 minutes of the game. Afterwards it was a little disturbing watching 2 ISU dudes hugging each other, but, good for them. First time I've ever been to a game in that stadium, what a joy.

Yeah I noticed that too. It wasn't just the student section either, it was the good seats. They place looked damned near empty and it was still a game. I know you're pissed that Iowa State is beating you, but that is a shiatty way to treat your home team. Wow!

There was never close to 80K fans in that stadium today. Even when the game started it only looked 3/4 full.

"A key thing I heard a couple of times in the post game was they came out with no excitement and that is a big picture concern about the conference and our lack of a good home schedule for awhile now. The fans aren't excited about most of these games and I'm sure the players aren't all that excited about Iowa St., Baylor, most of the conference. With nu leaving it makes it even worse. I know we are ramping up the schedule soon but until then it is kind of lame. "

My inlaws are UT season ticket holders and couldn't go to this game, so I figured, eh, it is football, I will go check it out. The stadium was almost 1/4 full 20 minutes before kickoff, never came close to filling up as the student section upper deck looked like a ghost town and there were huge areas of no people and the people in front of us, a family of 4, shows up at halftime and leaves at the end of the 3rd quarter. My wife even commented at the difference between OU and Texas fans. It was pretty nice having the whole section to ourselves in the 4th quarter though. They almost missed a great comeback though.

Was pretty mad at my fellow "fans" today. Leaving when you're down 2 scores in the 3rd quarter? WTF? I'd love for all those dicks to give me their tickets free if they aren't going to use them.

You'd think people would have learned their lesson for leaving before halftime in the 2004 Okie State game.

Crap like this is why we're basically as good on the road as we are at home under Mack Brown. One of the quietest, laziest fanbases of any major historical power.

Stat - I know of many offers for free tickets to your game today in the past week in my office, from reps and others outside our office. It seemed people couldn't give them away...I even had some knowing that I am a Sooner ask me if I wanted tickets on the chance that I might know someone else who wanted them.

I admit it was a bit of a surprise to me to see that as I don't remember that happening to that extent for OU home games and even OSU home games with all the OSU co-workers that I had in OKC.
