Heading to the Bottom of the 8th, 6-1 Texas. Colby Lewis has looked impressive.

For 28 years, i have never known what it was like for my favorite baseball team to do this. i had started to feel like a poke fan. simply amazing.

I never thought I'd see this day.

And to go through A-Rod and the Yankees to do it?

Since the Yankees started their era of dominance, only two teams have been able to beat them in the ALCS.

The Red Sox and Rangers.

I can't tell you how happy that makes me!! :)

^^^^^How ironic is it that A-Rod was the last batter? :)

Yes.

Last I checked, they didn't have the LCS round of playoffs in 1923. ;)

You'll have to forgive Yankee fans if they don't know their baseball history....they only know how many championships they have, mainly from t-shirts. They do not know how or when they actually won them without consulting the t-shirt.

They do not know that the League Championship Series didn't start before 1969 or the League Division Series did not start until 1995, except for the one off because of the strike season in 1981 which they were actually in. Before that the regular season pennant winners automatically went to the World Series....but I don't expect them to know any of that history as well.

Yankees have only lost 3 times total in the ALCS

And I'll forgive Yankee haters for letting their Yankee hatred get in the way of getting the point. ;)

You're right. I don't have all 27 years memorized. I guess it would be much easier to be a "real" fan if I only had to remember a couple of years.

Cliff Lee is mortal.

Well, damn.

Oh well, there's still Game 2 to get. And if they can, they'll come with a split.

Tough loss....hopefully it's just 1st game jitters. Don't see how the Rangers could field much worse than they did last night. Love Michael Young but the guys is a serious liability at 3B. Rangers seriously need to look at finding a better option there and maybe he can DH. Vlad out in right was just awkward though. He's still got a cannon for an arm though, but his knees just won't let him cover much ground anymore.

Cliff had a tough go of it. never seemed to find his curveball all night, and while did made a lot of good pitches, he definitely struggled against a primarily right handed lineup of the Giants. Was pretty freaking amazed at the nice double he put up on Lincecum though.

The Rangers did a great job of putting up runs early, but Lincecum settled down after the early runs and that totally bizzaro play where he just inexplicably escorted Michael Young back to 3rd base. Even he couldn't believe that.

Hoping the Rangers can even things up tonight.

Ya know, I had a feeling that they weren't going to win last night. It had less to do with the Giants and Rangers as their own respective teams than it had to do with this feeling I had that Cliff Lee was just due for a playoff loss.

But like you said...if they hold serve at home all they have to do is steal one in SF. Of course that's easier said than done on both counts, but it's reassuring to know that even if they fall to 0-2 heading back to Texas, well, that's the way it was "supposed" to play out.

TVlad out in right was just awkward though.

Mhmm. I was watching the Thunder game and just flipping over to the Rangers during commercials but the few plays I saw of Vlad out in RF were just sad.

If the Rangers lose, they're in good company.

The Yankees' first World Series visit was in 1921 when they lost (3-5...best of nine) to the Giants.

Lost again to the Giants in 22 before beating them in 23.

Maybe 90 years from now the Rangers will have 27 World Championships too!
