My whole deal is, he was OUr biggest receiver, so i think he is hard to replace in that aspect. BUT, the way LJ is throwing an DM is running, i defiantly think we will be ok. Cam Kenny should take his sport and hopefully trey franks gets more time since we ill be in different packages(not alot, but maybe one or two) than we would be with Dejuan. Hope he gets better soon and is not to sad about his knee.

THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING! Dont be such a girl We have guys who can step up and do a good job. If we lose a game it wont be because we lost Miller. We might replace him with Cam or it could be someone else in our NICE stable of wideouts. They are here for a reason and it is because they know how to play ball. I trust they will find the right dude to make the plays and help us with some ball games.

Of course, Miller had 2 good games. He probably would've been huge this weekend but the team is deep. We haven't had to use our TEs as much because other receivers are open. I have no problem w/ Kenney starting again. He better just have an FSU type performance. Its like he only shows up against Florida teams.

PeruSooner
10/21/2010, 03:07 PM
We could also flex James Hanna out wide more often, if replacing DM's size is a major concern (blocking, red zone target). He was a wide receiver in high school. That would also open more playing time for Haywood at TE.

Miller had all the tools to be the big receiving threat in the BIG 12. Coaches were working his size and physicality in on tired defenses this year. Sad to see yet another UN-lucky break for Dejuan and OU. :(

I don't think we're doomed, but I also don't think we won't miss a beat with Dejuan gone. His size was a mismatch and he was proving to be a good bail out for LJ. You know LJ, which, to sf.com'ers was a headcase 1.5 months ago, and now he's suddenly a heisman hopeful.

Sucks...my fav. moment of this season of his was at the Cincy game. One of the corners was talking **** and Miller started jawing back at the guy. I think it was maybe a play or 2 later, he straight smoked the guy and had a made a nice catch on a deep ball from Landry.

SoonerNate

Being that he likely hurt it in practice against OUr D...

I blame Vulnerables.

NormanPride
10/21/2010, 04:40 PM
His 3 touches a game will be shifted to the TE, most likely. We won't burn McCay's shirt this late in the season unless he's a freak and he's not right now. On the other hand, we have three TEs that need more touches. Hanna is a real threat, Ratt has improved his hands this year, and Haywood is getting more PT because he's a great player as well.

We will miss Miller, no doubt, but if we want a guy to run a five yard slant then we can put a TE out there or get a little guy. This mostly hurts us in third and medium - he was great at catching the ball at 5 yards and fighting for those last two or three to get the 1st. We'll need the running game to be more consistent to make up for that.

More of a chance that Caleb plays instead of Kenney. Caleb's a better blocker, and the TEs will get the catches instead of the third WR.

Hmmm, if I remember correctly I have only seen Caleb on the field as a WR during the ISU route. Kenney started, and Trey Franks has been on the field a lot more than most. I know he is a slot, but remember Broyles can shift to the outside receiver at anytime. I love the guy, but doubt Caleb is the answer. I hope I am wrong.

I r having agreeance... 3 catches and 33 yards/game can be made up even if it is with three different guys. And I think NP and a couple of others have hit on what seems to me to be the easy solution if you need another big receiver on the field... keep Rateree in at TE and flex Hanna out.

But beyond that I think our cheer for the rest of the season needs to be "'Stay Healthy!' on three... 1 ,2, 3, STAY HEALTHY!"

Yeah, I sorta agree. I mean yeah being 6'4" helps, but he dropped more passes then I can count. That was a lot last year, but it seems LJ never passes to him anyways..

Just got this message WWLS Alert--Carey Murdock reports that OU wide receiver Dejuan Miller has torn his meniscus and is out for the season

I had the same injury/surgery a few years ago. Extremely painful and he'll be lucky to be back by spring practice. I couldn't swing a golf club for six months. The pain is awful and the recovery time is long, due to the amount of swelling after the surgery.

Best of luck to Dejuan and a speedy recovery.

Dangit. Hate that, but seems repairable & he'll be back next year.

I thought Jaz Reynolds was sent packing. Off field problem. Am I wrong on that? Is he still even on the team? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

Justin McCay isn't as big as DM, but at listed 6'3", 197#, that's a sizeable target too. I'd think Stoops would want to keep Finch at RB as he's showed mucho potential, but maybe not.

It'll probably be Kenny listed 6'1", 190, but between him, Stills, Caleb & Powell, should cover it. May end up being a rotating thing & may best man win.

Crucifax Autumn

I'm not sure about his maturity yet, but assuming he's catching on fast there's no real reason Finch couldn't play a of both is there? It would be kinda fun to see him and Murray on the field at the same time with the D having to adjust even more as the two just take turns between RB and WR for a series or few.

If we see Murray and Finch on the field at the same time, it will be Murray who lines up at receiver or motions out to the slot. He's been doing that for 3 years already.
