Is My Child’s Schoolteacher a Secret Sex Addict? (http://christwire.org/2010/10/is-my-childs-schoolteacher-a-secret-sex-addict/)

Much has been written of late about the growing number of schoolteachers actively engaging in sexual acts with their students. As this tragedy continues to spread, administrators, politicians and parents are unsure about what to do next. There is no consensus on how to battle this trend, particularly when it comes to female teachers and male students. Some brush off these peculiar occurrences as examples of boyish hormones intersecting with poor feminine judgment. On the other hand, law enforcement and child development experts state that these incidents should be properly labeled as abuses or rapes, warranting criminal prosecution. However one looks at this crisis, it is clear that the epidemic is closely connected with the lowered standards of morality and professionalism in today’s educational environments.
As more and more Christian families send their boys and girls to public schools, it’s important that a system of checks and balances be put in place. This does not mean one should be invasive, and certainly the vast majority of America’s schoolteachers are decent and law abiding. But it can’t hurt to get to know these faculty members, coaches and advisors and monitor their personalities. Parent-teacher conferences are a regular feature this time of year. You can volunteer to chaperone field trips or other special events. You should not be reluctant to call or email if you have concerns about reading materials, coursework levels or science classes. Even if you feel your child is not being mentally challenged in the classroom, you should speak up. Each of these situations presents a great opportunity to make a connection with your child’s teachers.
The Bible commands us, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” We are also told, “Folly is bound up in the heart of a child.”
It is vital for adults to stay engaged in the lives of their kids as they develop through their tumultuous teenage years. This is a time when their bodies have matured, but their minds are still youthful. It’s only natural that they will be prone to mistakes and bad decisions. Keep a watchful eye, particularly when it comes to internet usage. Many experts recommend avoiding portable laptops and iPhones and instead setting up a computer workstation in the family room so that you can see what web pages are being surfed. There are also many great software programs that prevent illicit and dangerous sites from loading onto your home machine. For the tech savvy, you can purchase monitoring systems that follow a child’s text messaging and call log records. It’s always smart to review these on a regular basis to make sure that the numbers are familiar, and not those of mysterious adults or disposable cell phones (a popular trick of urban drug dealers).

(This image above shows how sex obsessed teachers fall into certain categories. These are people incapable of keeping their libidos in check and who lack the moral foundation necessary to interact with children. Their faces speak volumes of secret desires!)
When it comes to schoolteachers themselves, it’s worthwhile to remember that they’re human beings, too, and susceptible to the same frailties you find in society at large. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” as Jeremiah 17:9 warns. Many of these educators can be quite young, just out of college and maybe only a few years older than your own children. As part of the young adult world, they may have fallen prey to their own poor decisions, such as drug use and sexual immorality. There is no simple test to weed out all the bad apples, but again parents need to be vigilant for the moments of impropriety that can happen between a child and his instructor.
As can be seen with the numerous cases of women raping boys in schools, there are common characteristics and flashing warning signs. The thought may be incredibly difficult for you to contemplate, but it is necessary as a parent to be aware (see “Warning Signs of a Pedophile” for more). Take comfort in Psalm 34:17: “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles.” Because we realize this is such an uncomfortable issue, Christwire has put together some simple graphs and displays to help you evaluate the sexual personae of schoolteachers. In future articles, we will explore the proper ways to take control of these complex dilemmas. Be sure to check with us soon!
The graph below shows notorious Pamela Rogers, jailed for repeatedly having sex with one of her 13-year old male students. Her hypersexualized “vixen” appearance was meant to titillate young boys and was clearly entirely inappropriate for the classroom.
