I apologize if this has been posted but I have not seen anything on the Yahoo article about Boo Blake and former Sooner players.

Can the NCAA go back this far to impose any sanctions?

Yes they can go back that far. There is no statue of limitations in the NCAA. Will they since it was under Blake and has nothing to do with ou now or stoops? I doubt they retrospect it that far!

Just looked up him on wikipedia,
87-88 Tulsa (TE/WR Coach)
89 OU (DL Coach)
90-92 OU (LB Coach)
93-95 Dallas (DL)
96-98 OU Head Coach
03 Mississippi St (DL)
04-06 Nebraska (DL)
07-10 UNC (DL)

I don't know if he was a grad assistant @ OU before he went to Tulsa though..

Barry is the King but he was also the one who got Blake the Job at OU as head coach. Very ugly stuff , he should be banned from college football for life.

Wow, just read the article. Blake's from my hometown. Didn't know him personally, but obviously knew of him. Makes me sick.

My biggest question is does this get OU in any trouble, if so, how? I can't imagine Boz and the guys saying anything that might get OU in trouble. Of course, maybe I'm naive that way.

I believe there is a 4-year limit. At least that is what the SI article says...

"Neither the schools nor the players in this story are likely to face NCAA scrutiny. The NCAA has a four-year statute of limitations on violations, and the most recent violation alleged by Luchs occurred in 2005. There are exceptions to the statute, but none appear applicable."

Did Boo destroy all the recruiting records when he left too?

Thank god he's no longer here. I wish his name would be stricken for OU history books.

the other problem is that the NCAA cracking down on agents is a relatively new thing. most of the rules cases in the 80's were about boosters giving money to players, not agents meeting with players. heck, boz was the first high profile STEROID case and that was in 1987.

this does not bode well for boo's future as a college coach though.

the exceptions are pretty severe -> point shaving, etc.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be "Yahoo article on a Yay-Hoo!"?

Yes he was a GA for Barry in the mid 80s. I had no idea he was so corrupt--totally ridiculous
