So the way we see this panning out? Mizzou goes to the air often on 1st and 2nd downs, and when they don't convert they are left with 3rd and long. If Mizzou's offense doesn't at least sustain drives with 2 -3 1st downs, this could very well be a blow out.

I think we probably do everything we can to take away their passing game and force them to try and establish the run

Well if the pattern continues they will get under 100 on the ground against T. Lew and the boys on saturday

I would be surprised if they have more than 20 rushing attempts the whole game.

And IMO that plays into our hands, just like what ut tried to do. UT got a cpl decent runs on us but they gave up on the run

I agree , if we don't have to worry about the run the front 4 can pin their ears back.

I heard something like they were ranked 2nd in the nation in scoring defense. Anybody have any numbers on what type of D we'll be facing?

Theyve played Mcneese st, colorado, illinois, and miami of oh, they are all terrible on off

Team - Rush yds / Pass Yds
Illinois - 200 / 81
McNeese St. - 65 / 180
SanDiego ST - 250 / 190
Miami (oh) - 70 / 246
Colorado - 61 / 250
aTm - 57 / 322

The rushing numbers are deceptively low since Missouri also runs short safe pass plays like bubble screens as part of their running game. You'll see probably 10 short passes like this during the game.

Collier11

Yea I expect alot of that, I think our secondary has proven that we dont get beat deep too often. Its gonna have to be the intermediate and underneath type stuff

Yet, we have also played San Diego State and Texas A&M who aren't so terrible on offense. San Diego State's offense is statistically better than OU's with Texas A&M right behind.

and what did those offenses average against you guys? like 400 yards? yeah, nice try...your "stellar" defense is about to get exposed methinks.

They average more yards rushing but far less yards passing than my Sooners.
But the team 1 did this to team 2 so we should do X to team 2 argument is allways a slippery slope.

If both teams play well, I see OU winning due to superior skill players making big plays. We should also win the turnover battle. I see Mizzou trying to rattle LJ and making him prove he can play well on the road. Our D needs to play very discipline and make them run a lot of short plays to get anywhere. It's going to be hard to get 3 and outs, but it will be even harder for them to get points if we refuse to give up big plays.

I've watched aTm play a plenty and they are as wishy washy as they come.

While you make a good point, I also counter with the fact that I saw an aTm team that quit on their 2nd straight head coach

We definitely could lose on the road to someone, especially Missouri, but that doesn't mean Missouri is that great. It just means that it is very hard to go undefeated.

Statistically speaking, it helps when you...

1) Score 47 against Nicholls State <--- lol
2) Score 41 against New Mexico State <--- lol

Boise State could say that, statistically, they have the 3rd best offense in the country.. but running the score up on Helen Keller's School of the Deaf and Blind doesn't mean you have the 3rd best offense in the country.

We already went over this, BYU beat SDSU, AF beat BYU, utah st beat BYU,and FSU beat BYU.

It is factual that we have the best offense and best defense Mizzou has faced all year. They are neither the best offense nor defense we've faced all year.

Your theory is flawed. Not only because of what Cornfed said, but because comparing wins is retarded.

Let's compare wins. OU beat FSU by 30. FSU beat Miami by 28. Ohio State beat Miami by 12.

By the comparing wins theory, OU would be a 46 point favorite over Ohio State.

Ok, maybe your theory isn't flawed after all. ;)

You have not paid any attention to OU D in 12 yeaqrs apparently.Bob and Brent ALWAYS make stopping the run prority #1.How do you force someone to beat you running?Drop eight, rush 3?

We'll have a backup safety throw a 4th quarter TD pass to a 3rd string TE if we have to, but we will win.

For whatever reason Vegas has us at -3. I honestly don't expect it to be quite that close, but they are really giving Mizzou some respect. I'm sure it has a lot to do with it being in Columbia, and our recent lousy road history.
