Huey Lewis Returns With Soul Classics Covers Album
HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS have recorded an album of Stax soul classics - their first new record since 2001.
The Power of Love hitmakers will release Soulsville in November (10).
The album features covers of hits by the Staple Singers, Johnnie Taylor and Isaac Hayes among other Stax stand-outs, and frontman Lewis admits he was nervous about recording the classics.
He tells Billboard.com, "I was a little wary because I'm a big fan of this stuff. But I figured there's no harm in trying and working the songs up. I was wary because some of these performances are so great they shouldn't be repeated. But I think we've done it justice and we'll turn a lot of people on to this stuff."
