BC's runningback just busted another one. Has about 150 yards already. FSU could be in trouble.

Good point. They have been lucky to hold them to two FGs.

When your defense is getting gashed like this, being down 6-0 probably isn't too bad.

They also put seconds back on the clock so there was apparently a lot that they were reviewing.

Most refs are old white men, so they take some time for a lot of things.

Yes ... I agreed with you. Unless we stumble. <shaking head>

It's not unprecedented. 2001 and 2006 were real examples. Even someone almost completely new to OU football should be able to think back that far. A loss at Nebraska basically eliminates them. Only 1 conference loss in could mean a 2006 or even a 2007 ending.

My, my, didn't someone get up on the wrong side of the bed.

I think Mizzou can beat Nebbish. In their first real road game, they're up 13-0 against A&M at College Station and just may score again just before half. I didn't know that they had such a stout defense. They have effectively shut down Jerrod Johnson and kept the Aggie offense at 2-9 3rd down conversions. Obviously, the home field advantage for A&M isn't what it used to be.

That's kind of my thoughts on the 4th quarter slumping we've seen. Bob is going for an undefeated Season this time. He's not trying to please anyone but himself IMO. I think he's moved towards his Win Out and things will pan out Theory again.

Every week we get better and every week we post a win. It's hard to argue anything when he keeps the Team posting W's.

So we let teams get back in games in attempt to go undefeated? That would make sense if we pulled our starters in the game. Nope.

Some of you guys don't read all of the posts around here so you start trying to come in on a particular statement and put it under a microscope.

You really shouldn't do that IMO.

I don't think Bob intentionally does this...I think he's getting guys PT and that effect of it is that we go flat in the 4th. The AF game was the purest example of it IMO. That game shouldn't have been that close but I think our guys thought they had it in the bag. At the end of the game Bob and the Coaches scrambled a bit to make sure we had that one in the bag. We were playing more depth chart guys at the end of some of these games instead of starters like he's done in the past.

This wouldn't really suprise me. Lack of depth has not been out problem. It's a lack of experience for those players beyond the starters and backups.

StoopTroup
10/16/2010, 01:48 PM
BTW....I'm pretty sure I don't know what Bob is thinking all the time....but he's doing stuff differently this year IMO. In 2000 after we'd seen the Ninja Offense and Josh was at the helm for his 2nd season...we were playing KU at Home and won that one 34-16 but I thought we really played that game badly. We really hadn't played anyone at that point and heading towards the Cotton Bowl I was pretty uneasy about our chances. What the hell did I know....we clobbered teh whorns 63-14 and it was over at half. It was like Bob got the Team to shift gears at that point and we came out of 1st gear for the first time that season and ran through the gears on tejas....leaving tire tracks down their back.

I'm comparing what happened that season to what I think is getting ready to happen tonight. I think Bob and the Team are getting ready to run through the gears tonight and instead of it being tejas....it's Iowa St.

Chuck Bao

I do remember a lot of criticism on this board in the past for Coach Stoops not giving the backups more playing time in the fourth quarter just in case one of the starters were to be injured. Now, the criticism seems to be that we are not sufficiently running up the score in the fourth quarter. Gee.

You have seen how he treats the press right? When I'm saying that he's just trying to please himself....that entails quite a few things if I were Bob. I know he doesn't GAS what the Sports Reporters think. I know he'd like to see every fan on their feet screaming their *** off for the Team even when they are struggling...etc...

It's just a feeling I've had since the FSU win. I can't put my finger on it exactly but I think he's just not going to drop a game. Even when the Team hasn't performed like he wanted....he seems reserved. Bob is really different this year and I can't exactly explain it either. It just reminds me of that Win Out Theory he had a few years ago. I think it wasn't hard to see that our Sooners had the makings of a good team and that our Schedule was strong enough to use that Win Out Theory even though the Media doesn't want to see the Sooners play for another title game. If anything scares me about close games this year it would be the Oregon Ref type scenario happening again during a tight one. Drop a game this year and we won't fair well trying to make it to the BCSCG even with a Big XII Championship under our belt.

That's kind of why thin man trying to manipulate what I was saying and ****ing with me got him some red. Win out and we could very well win it all. tejas and the 2001 2006 BS he was spewing has nothing to do with me changing my mind that if we win every damn game....we could make a BCS Title game.
