So, you residents of sunny california can you give me some insight to what their tax rates are?
Kern county would be really helpful but I'll take ball park figures from those in the know.

I'm assuming you mean property taxes. I can't help, but I thought clarification would get you better answers.

Just a small fraction over 1%/per year of what you paid for it. In subsequent years your taxes can increase a maximum of 2% from the previous year, assuming the assessed value is going up.

One exception is if the housing addition has added on "Mello Roos" fees to help pay for community infrastructure. These are more common in upscale master-planned communities.

That yearly cap is what helped get them in hot water...revenue wise...correct, or am I mistaken?

Yes, the Proposition 13 passed several decades ago tied legislators' hands on the revenue side for funding schools. Many would say, Including me, that an equal problem is the spending side.

Top rate is 9.55% for amount of taxable income over 92,000 married filing jointly.
They sock it to high income folks but average joes with normal deductions don't pay much.

Domestic partnerships can file jointly.
