- Oklahoma is desolate and lifeless, so without any distinguishing features that Oklahomans themselves vacation to New Mexico. Leaving Iowa and traveling the goat trails maintained by Missouri is bad enough - once you reach Oklahoma there is nothing, literally nothing. It makes Nebraska seem lush with its dead grass and Easter Island style Pelini sculptures. And as if it's not enough that their roads suck and skeletal remains of longhorns dot the hillsides, they will penalize you $3.50 every 50 miles for the opportunity to use them.

Seriously the guy from Iowa is bagging on the landscape of Oklahoma?

One more time for you all:

BORING EXPLANATION: It's all Norm's fault. Or was it Beano's? Anyway, back when Friends was still on TV - ok, still on TV airing new episodes - and Denise Richards guest starred, Norm (or Beano) started a thread titled "Friends reminded me of something last night". The thread was almost entirely pics of scantily-clad babes. It went to probably over 4,000 posts. 100-something pages. Somewhere in there virtually every web-filtering service out there blacklisted us as a porn site, and no one could post from work anymore. So we cracked down on the babe pics at Phil's request.

SUMMARY: Until Phil the Almighty says otherwise, can the chick pics.

isnt the spread OU -24 or something like that?

OU either wins by 40, or wins by 10. I can't really decide yet. it depends if the ISU that rolled Texas Tech shows up, or the ISU that got beat like a mormon wife by the utes shows up.

either way, the cyclones are balls deep in a rough stretch right now (Utah, @OU, @TX) it isnt as bad as it could be seeing that texas isn't really texas this year, but still.

I am not sure what you mean by this. OSU has been 9-3 the last 2 season. Granted, we continue to lose to OU. I don't see this changing until consistent recruiting and better coaching from the top comes.

this has everything to do with the money the one major donor has invested in your program (and the attention that comes with that through advertising, facility improvements, etc.)

without him you're the ISU of the south. (2nd rate in state, consistently bad with a few mediocre bright spots mixed in, a few random bowl wins)

also, why is there still empty seats all over the place for home games in stillwater? I will never understand that. it seems OSU has even less fan supports than ISU does

First, the empty seats has more to do with ticket prices then lack of fan support. Holder decided to price tickets high in order to maximize ticket revenue. Granted, it looks bad on TV. But, he is making more money then charging normal ticket prices and having the games sell out.

Yes, Boone has donated money to OSU. How is this different then any other university? Without price, OU may not have a successful business school. I don't see your point here about Boone. Yea, he helped us out but it is no different then Joe Jamil donating to upgrade Texas' facilities.

he's a lone major donor. without him OSU wouldn't be where they are now.
OU and Texas have had a long standing history of success that as built their programs and gotten them those doners.

You might want to look up two other guys by the name of Malone Mitchell III and Sherman Smith. I can provide you with more names that have given large amounts to OSU.

OU and Texas have built tradition over years of success, but other teams are not allowed to build programs?

all I'm saying that is if ISU had a major contributor like boone pickens, it could be OSU but in the north. the schools have been similar over time (as was stated by another poster)

Well, we might have to agree to disagree. I am not sure Iowa State is strategically placed to get major recruits that are in the hot recruiting beds of Texas and Oklahoma. I think all Oklahoma and Texas schools are very good and lucky because of location to good recruits. Proximity to high caliber recruits is probably one of the biggest factors of success along with good coaches.

Ah, Boise is an anomaly. However, you have to ask yourself.....would Boise consistently compete in a major conference if they had to play better competition week to week. I am not sure Boise could sustain injuries and be as successful as Texas or OU in a major conference.
