We have so many quakes here in Palo Alto, a 4.5 is what we get between the real ones. :)

So it was an earthquake that I felt while I was in class here in Yukon?

Was wierd. Sitting there studying, felt a couple of jolts, not hard ones, and heard what sounded kind of like a rumbling for a few seconds right after that.

Yeah but then your locals go into a tizzy over pea-sized hail . . .

According to NEIC, it was a 4.3, epicenter almost due east of Norman about 8 miles.

Must have been a pretty deep quake it if was only a 4.5 at the epicenter and was felt in a large area.

What time? Did not feel it in Bartlesville. But a facebook friend did. She said she saw Ben Afleck at the time; thought she was kidding about the earthquake. Ben is really in Bartlesville; they are filming a movie.

Heh. That reminds me of the summer I spent in Portland, OR two years ago. I came home from work one day, and I had noticed it was getting pretty cloudy. No big thing for Portland.

Then I noticed some thunder and lighting. No big deal, just a thunderstorm. Turned on the TV and you would have thought a twister just ripped through downtown Portland. Every broadcast channel had their weathermen on. Every weatherman had that "this is serious, folks" tone in his voice. The anchors were marvelling at the severity of the storm.

I just chuckled.

upgraded to a 5.1

Sources believe it was caused by DM finishing a set of squats and accidentally dropping the barbell...

Yep and you should see the hysteria around here (Palo Alto) when a few snow flakes cover the hills. Every area gets used to it's local natural dangers.

BTW, I worked my way through school at NSSL in the early days of doppler radar research. I really miss having a rock'n roll thunderstorm every once in a while.
