everyone is ready to crown blake bell as the successor to landry...if drew sticks around, i would not be the least bit surprised if he wins the starting job. he is a very talented QB.

Yes. I think he'll take off after this year. Landry will be here another year, Blake will be groomed... no room for Drew.

BLAKE IS THE SECOND COMING OF TEBOW! Minus the raping men and rushing the ball!

For any speculation about future quarterback transfers, consider this - most recent top recruits would have started had they stayed!

Right now, you could ask the same question about Blake Bell or Archie Bradley for that matter. I'm wondering where all of those LJ haters are right now. Did they transfer to Texas?

LJ is doing a good job but if we have a better QB, I am all for putting him in. Obviously, we don't right now. I would not be surprised though before his career is over if you didn't see some meaningful time given to Blake Bell.

Landry's got two more years. He's a long way from being ready to leave early for the NFL. Also, I think Drew could be the next starter if he sticks around. As someone said earlier, if any of the transfers had stuck around, they would have been starters.

In case anyone was wondering who I was referring to, here are the past few that could have been starting QB had they stuck around:

Keith Nichol (transferred to Michigan State; Sammie goes down with arm injury)
Noah Allen (transferred to Utah; Brett Romar leaves)

The ones who did gut it out despite their temporarily diminished capacity, Paul ENA Thompson and Nate Hybl, got rewarded for it with BCS berths and Big 12 titles :)

I coached against Drew's high school team in San Antonio area for 3 three years and never really thought he had a chance to play at this level. Big, strong, aggressive player with above average mobility who threw the deep ball well but tended to turn the ball over too much.

Are sure that was Allen? I thought Tommy Grady transferred to Utah?

I could be wrong thought. All I know is Crab Salad!

I think you're right - probably thinking of Tommy Grady. We've had so many Noah Allen's and Brent Rawls et als recently that it's hard to keep track of em all!

Watching Blake last year on ESPN, I couldn't help but think the same about him. He was much bigger than his opponents and was able to lead his team to a big come-from-behind win. But, I kept thinking "He is playing against Kansas Small High School competition. If he was all that, how did he let his team get so far behind, anyway?"
Hope I am wrong.

But when you're an Arena Football starter, that makes you bigtime. Right? RIGHT???

Sam Bradford wasn't impressive with the Panthers his senior year.. went 6-6...

Allen will stay; We certainly have showed that QB's can be hurt, get in trouble etc etc. He could be one play away from big time.. Plus he likes it here.

With Thompson coming in next season I don't doubt one of our QB's will transfer, but who knows how they feel being back-up. Some kids who have started thier whole life don't like being the second string will transfer. Some are smart enough to realize that starting on a crappy team is not as cool as being back-up at OU. The second teamers get championship rings too you know. :D
