A win against an undefeated Nebbish will do more for us than a win over a 2 loss Texas!

Rather TX has 2 losses or 3, the damage has already been done.

4. The Bugeaters are ranked ahead of us in both polls. Won't mean as much in the rankings when we put their upper teeth against the curb in the CCG, but it will give us some breathing room.

Seriously? I've seen the dumbest posts I've ever seen on SF this year. Let's recap a few:

5. Jlew's pick of the century: Arkansas over Bama
4. This one
3. Can we donate players to the Rams?
2. Some OU fans actually picked free shoes to beat us.
1. Jlew thinks Bama is the greatest team of all time

Pulling for ***** does make sense. All of you are expecting nebs to to win out. What if they don't? what if T-m goes down? How the hell they gonna help our S.O.S if they don't make it to the CCG. You have to pull for whats on your schedule, thats what makes your schedule stronger. Keep pulling for Utah State(6-6) FSU (ACC) champs, AFU (MAC) champs, Cinci (BIG EAST) and everyone else were SCHEDULED to play. AND KEEP WINING and if that happens the pole that matters will have us #1 just like it has every time we've played for the national championship before we even play the CCG. I personally don't think Nebs will make it to the CCG unbeaten, so if they loose I want it to be by OSU, MISS or **.

we are where we need to be in the computers, we're fine there. What we need now is the humans, they're LOVING Neb right now for some reason so when we kick the **** outta them that love goes to us. I never said I would root for them. Just making a point that if they win it helps us. If they loose we have to root for Nebs. I don't like either one so if its a catch 22 either way. Might as well pull for whats on our schedule. Hell if they (*) won then we would have beaten 3 ranked teams and probably be #1 in the computer polls and would move up in human polls so BCS would probably have us #2 when they came out. Just saying IF the south wins all their games against the north then the spin will be we played in the toughest division on the best conference. SEC is down this year. So like I said I will PULL for the ones on our schedule and in our division. Not Root, totally different.;)

Leroy Lizard
10/11/2010, 11:24 PM
All of this matters not. When a Texas QB throws a pass, you want it intercepted. You can talk logic until you are blue in the face, but the emotional pull for seeing a Horn player crying on the sideline is just inherent in us.

So while your lips may say "Oh, darn, an interception!" your heart will say "Suck it, ***-holes!!!"

I'll pulling for the horns and none of you can stop me. Bwah-haa-haa Bwah-ha-ha. That should probably be worth at least an extra horn 1st down. Now if there are any Husker fans lurking, if you and your friends all make a donation to my paypal account, I might alter the electro-chemical balance in my brain and fire the neurons in an order that favors NU. It's worth a shot.

I simply can't pull for the whorns in any situation I can imagine. Even when they are playing another team I despise, I just ignore it. In my mind, it doesn't happen. People talk about how Vince Young won the game against SUC, but I have to take their word for it. I never watched a down of that game.

If Tim Tebow, Jr. was on his way to the National Championship game, playing for Notre Lame and a 1-10 Tejas team was his last regular season game, yeah... Have at it, whorns.

But not when you know Mack is gonna right the ship in Austin and we're only a game up on them for the South. Besides, it's good for some of these jerkoff whorn fans to come down to reality and off of their "everything's bigger and better in Tejas" high horse.

I know what you're sayin'. I can understand that point of view. And, I really, really despised Pete Carroll's evil empire.

Maybe that's why I couldn't watch. There might have been some possibility of a fleeting moment when I actually said "yeah, texas" somewhere deep in my subconscious. I just couldn't risk that.

I just find it hilarious there is a 100+ posting thread about who to pull for :) Okay, there is a lot of discussion about which outcome indirectly affects OU and I get that. But there is *passionate* appeal about the moral implication of who rooted for who in a game played 5 years ago! I just can't wrap my brain around it, so I thought maybe I could make a $ instead. :)

I'm not going for either but if the whorns win it won't surprise me. This is a game where I hope everyone rolls their ankles(no serious injuries I'm not mean) and the game end in a forfeit for both sides. I know it can't happen but I'd wish it would.

This is the only game that I can remember where I slightly rooted for the horns to win...It was the lesser of two evils in my mind. Even though I didn't want them to win the championship, usc was getting pretty close to our 47 game win streak. Within a season and a half at least, and at that point I wanted that not to happen more than the horns winning the MNC.

Really though, IF that streak is to ever be broken, it will be by a non-AQ team like Boise State. Not by a team like USC. It's unlikely enough for any particular AQ team to go undefeated for just one season, much less for 47 straight games.

To get to 48 one team has to have, what like nearly 4 straight undefeated season?

The chances of USC getting to that 48 number with a win that night were very low. The chances of Texas getting a National Championship with a win that night... quite high.

An undefeated, top 5 ranked Nebraska playing at home, before a jam packed house against the team they blame for taking over the conference and influencing all other conference schools against them.

A team with a strong offensive identity with hopes and dreams of national glory with hatred and revenge in their hearts.

A team and fan base who feel they were wronged just last December.

A team that feels the sting of 8 losses to the other teams in 9 games. A team with pride that has NEVER beaten the other during the regular season during conference play.

A team that was cost perhaps 2 national championships because of a loss to the other team.

The other team, unranked, a midding 3 - 2 record, being led by a quarterback who looks tentative at best.. scared at worst. The other team with no offensive identity whatsoever and an apparent lack of play makers on offense... The other team struggling in their rebuilding year.

A team which is favored at home by an amount greater than the other team has been an underdog since the other team beat the "greatest team in the history of God" 5 years before.

I like it. :D
