View Full Version : Horn stupidity

I was thinking about all of the real logical failures offered by Horn fans over the years. Two come to mind; I was wondering if you can remember more.

1. Rock/papers/scissors. In a three way tie, there is no definable winner. But in Horn Land, paper can eliminate rock from the equation if rock thrashes scissors badly enough. There isn't a logic or math professor worth his salt that would go along with such a stupid scheme, but somehow Horn fans offered it up. What a bunch of dumbasses. Is a three-way tie really that hard to understand?

2. Bradford might suck. It's one thing to predict a player will wash out. We all do that from time to time. It's quite another thing to be so arrogant about it that the message board has to pull the thread out of its archives. (My favorite: "I will give it up to Stoops if he can polish that turd.")

What else?

I would nominate UT fan's incredible ongoing assurance that Mack Brown is somehow the 'Dean' of college football coaching.

To be nice about it, I am sure he is a nice man, in an avuncular, half cocked guy at the country club bar kind of way. And he is a successful professional in a very tough profession.

But you ask anyone outside the Big 12 to even identify the man and you draw blank stares.

Didn't they make "Big 12 South Co-Champion rings" back in 2002?

Let's not forget the humans vs computers argument they used to offer up. One week, humans were the only ones to be trusted... computers don't know the nuances of football!! The next week, humans were too biased to treat Texas fairly! Back and forth. Back and forth.

January - Gilbert will be the best QB in the history of *. He'll be a heisman contender next year.

October - Goddammit, bench Gilbert and put Case McCoy on the field!

Here's the infamous Hodges Mitchell quote following a loss to Stanford in 2000:

"We played as long as we could and as hard as we could, but we
just ran out of time," Mitchell said. "We didn't lose this
game, we just ran out of time. I thought we were going down to
the last snap."

Wussing out on Hawaii (oh wait, that one showed their intelligence, what with all those sky high travel costs & such :D ).

Dodds: "Mack, we're thinking of scheduling Hawaii."

Mack: "Excellent! It will do my team well to get some sun."

Dodds: "They looked pretty good in their season opener. Gave a Top-10 team a rough time."

Mack: "Plane flights out there will cost a fortune. Don't like it."

Dodds: "In their second game though they showed glaring weaknesses in their defense."

Mack: "The chance to play in Hawaii is tremendous for our program. We might be even able to scrape up a few recruits. They grow them big out there."

Dodds: "But they should get their QB and their top defender back from injury."

Mack: "The jet lag for their return trip could factor into their academics. Don't like it."
