Second row: Jacqueline Jeffcoat (#34, 6-2 center/forward froshie - yes, that guy's sister), Jaz Hartman (#45), Nicole Griffin (#4, 6-6 center froshie... hopeful a Baylor Behemoth killer), Lauren Willis (#14), Morgan Hook (#22, 5-10 froshie guard), Lyndsey Cloman (#44), WHITNEY HAND!!!! Meh....give me the Wimmen's Volleyball Team....Their brand of sport is much more enjoyable to watch and they have the superior uniform as well.

Pretty sure Cerina's a junior. She transferred in from NEO. I do now know why the rest of the gals rave about her screening ability. That girl's a two legged brick wall.

You're right - she's a juco transfer. I was typing too fast out of excitement for the upcoming season. It's clear that Sherri is bringing in tall talent to take out the behemoth.

I saw Whitney with her dad at an OU baseball game in '09. I think they were waiting for Landry to get there from the OU Spring Game. In the meantime, about every guy in the baseball crowd, at least those who weren't related to the Hands, was watching her more than they were the baseball game.

Greatness.

I have (had?) a friend that wants (wanted?) to do the same 'cause he is (was?) a Bengals fan.

He's still my friend, but lives with his girlfriend now, so he may not still want to do it for the Bengals anymore... and, for that matter, he may not be allowed to watch sports anymore...

I watched the end of the OU-whorn volleyball match last night since it was televised on ESPNU. We lost in the fourth match, but it was close. For those of you that have only watched high school/elementary volleyball, completely different scoring rules. Every screwup awards points, regardless of who is serving.

But, since this is a BASKETBALL forum and all, just thought you'd all like to know that Sherri finally updated her online blog at SS.com.

Linky (http://www.soonersports.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/101110aaa.html)

Because of offseason craziness, I missed a few other ones during the summer/early fall, including this awesome one on Whitney Hand's recovery:

Link (http://www.soonersports.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/090110aaa.html)

In true trooper fashion, Whitney swallowed hard, flashed her trademark smile and kept going. In a little over a week's time, she has already become an expert on the crutches. She's become even more of an attentive teammate. She has plans and schemes, and she has an agenda for our team. It is no-nonsense clear and they feel it in their bones: "Do not do less than you can because you CAN! And I can't." My girl Whit is a doer too.

As a recently-injured person, I can certainly understand how an injury can motivate you once you're going strong again. The memory of a painful third-degree sprained ankle is the reason I keep going on the treadmill sometimes.

And then another I missed, where she compares shopping to recruiting... lol. That's our Sherri :)

Solid reads, especially the shopping and Whitney ones. If you only have time for one, read the Whitney one.

went to the first half of the women's scrimmage/practice/game thingy tonight.

not sure what i was expecting out of that 6-6 griffin girl, but she has a LOOOOOONG way to go. very raw, she was getting dominated down low by macfarland. that little freshman PG from vegas is special...wow...she's fast as hell and is lights out from outside. she's gonna be a star. the freshman hook girl from arkie hit like three 3 pointers in a row, she can shoot too.

My guess is that McFarland will get a majority of the minutes for the token tall girl spot... but considering our roster, I wouldn't be surprised to see multiple tall girls out at one time.

If CP3 got away with using her height for four years, then Griffin might be able to get away with that a few games as well, but I'm hoping she'll develop more as a player than just relying on the ball getting to her hands first via gravity.

Anything else about the scrimmage of note? Was Whitney Hand running around like FIU's Ned on crutches trying to participate? :D

EDIT: Btw, here's how Sherri's hair looks this season:

It really does look better longer, but I liked it when it was straighter.

OH! They totally have a recap at SS.com including this little gem :D

Coale's son, Colton, an OU freshman and member of the male practice squad, replaced Lauren Willis, who left for class, after the second period but was benched after committing a turnover.

I'd do a game recap and all, but the blog hasn't started yet - so click here (http://www.soonersports.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/102810aab.html) to just read SS.com's. There's also a link on that page so you can view photos of the old alums eating pizza afterwards. Seriously :O

Anyways, blog returns in November... Monday... oh man, is it basketball season already? :D

Little Sooner tidbit: Sherri was pregnant with Colton's younger sister (now 14) when she originally interviewed for the OU job. Sherri said that she wore the only shirt that still fit to the interview and was glad that said shirt was red :)
