I think it would be awesome to end up in the NC game and get smoked again by either Oregon, Boise State or Alabama. I think OSU is the only team we would have a decent chance of beating. Hate to say it but I think that's reality.

"Embarrassed?" Fans like these guys are what's embarrassing. Just tell your buddy to root for whoever wins it every year. That way they don't have to worry about the awful shame that comes from being a real fan of a team.

The only one there I think we don't beat is 'Bama.

Assuming OUr team continues to improve and is willing to play 60 min., I believe we are a good matchup for 'Bama. Arkie proved that a passing team can move the ball on their D, they just are not a good enough team to seal the deal. The rest of the SEC will play SEC ball - conservative power running, defense and field position - right into 'Bama's wheel house. They won't see a talented passing team like ours again. Our D needs to mature and cut down on the big plays and we could hang with them if we can get that far.

The 2nd biggest underdog in BCS title game history won the game by double digits...you're probably familiar with the game.

Just off the top of my head, BCS title game underdogs that won outright:

1998 Tennessee
2000 OU
2002 Ohio St
2003 LSU
2005 Vince Young
2006 Florida

Getting to the BCS title game means we won another BigXII Championship. This would be another in a long line of excellence.

Oh, and like we got smoked by FSU in 2000??

I'm not saying we couldn't, just that I don't think we would right now. By the end of the season? Who knows. And even today, I'd still take a shot.

I'm not worried about playing them now :D Teams that look dominate early don't have as much head-room to get better and other teams will narrow the gap by year's end. A painful example is OUr '03 team. I still think we ended up the best team that year, but it wasn't a huge upset in the title game. Early and mid-season, we were heads above everyone. I think everyone would agree we have talent AND lots of room to improve. I'm like a lot of others that see us peeking in '11, but if we can manage to win during the process, who knows. We have plenty of tough tests remaining to help us "learn".

According to that we're tops in the computers. We're 1, 2, or 3 in every computer ranking taken. We really just need style points so that the humans can come around. That's how Boise is ahead of us.

ETA: This puts us in a strange position to root for Oregon and Ohio State to either win big every week or lose, even though they are ahead of us. TCU and Nebraska losing would would help a lot too (especially TCU, for obvious reasons).

I wouldn't be suprised if Texas beat Nebraska

However, OU/NU in the Big 12 championship game as a battle of undefeateds?

Yeah, I could go for that.

The computers help us every year because we play a legitimately tough schedule. I hope we don't change that. Sure, some years it bites us, like TCU, BYU etc... But name one other school that has played in 4 BCS Championships in 10 years. In the end, it is well worth the risk. And when you get there, you know you've deserved it.

Sure something has to happen above - but that's the easy part; it almost certainly will. The hard part is having to win 8 games in a row with most of the tough ones away from Norman. As someone else pointed out, we haven't even started 5-0 since '04.

That's what I was banking on when we played Teblow and Co in the BCS CG.

What kills me is that we usually do not look as good in the BCS games compared to how we've looked during the season. :(

And we did hang with the Gators - that was a close game. If we had DM, I think we might have even been the better team. At least a toss-up.

We won a bowl last year; could be the start of the next win-the-bowl era.

I completely agree. I was just thinking that they were not going to be used to a fast paced, pass happy offense. I wish we would've ran more plays in the hurry up, but there's a good reason I'm not a coach. :D

These BCS numbers are what I was arguing last night when someone was basically saying we had no shot unless a bunch of other pu$$ies lost.

Good to see we have some non-stupid people that actually understand how the system works. As for the rest of you who are too askeered to want the best competition...Screw off.

We just need to win every game and we're in unless all our opponents suddenly lose the rest of their games.

Call me spoiled but I always expect the Sooners to win (except back in '96, '97 and '98) so bring it on. Bama would be the toughest opponent. Revenge would be sweet with either Boise State or Oregon. Playing OSU (the big one not the little one down the road) would give us a chance to break the series tie. I ain't afraid of TP.

So Air Force REALLYYYYYY has a chance to help our SOS. They get TCU and UTAH back 2 back towards the end. Other than those 2, they have a chance to win out. So if they pull those out, that'll be 2 top 10 teams they whacked and there'd be no reason they wouldn't be in the top 10. The computers would loveeee that!

Not likely to happen, but even if they can just pull out one of those! Well...you get the picture.

Actually the reality is tOSU would be the easiest team to prepare for. I think we can beat any of those teams if everyone was dialed in. You saw how Mallet was passing all over Bama until he forced things. We'd have to outscore Oregon and Boise State. Anything is possible.

# These ratings are based on win-loss outcomes relative to schedule difficulty.
# Margin of victory is not used, and ratings don't reflect point differentials.
# There is no preseason bias; all teams begin at zero.
Early season ratings will fluctuate significantly until a sufficient number of games have been played.
# Teams that are not connected via the schedule graph are rated as isolated groups.
# These are the rankings used by the BCS.
# The ranking using MOV is posted as a separate column.
