I have no idea what policies Mangino had that drove his players crazy - no hugs? Mandatory listening to his swearing after getting flagged for excessive celebration? having to hear Mangino utter the word 'homies' a lot? - but at least they won under him. The players are gonna rebel soon if they don't start winning.

You know, I was thinking the other day. There are some coaches that are meant to be at a particular school. R.C. Slocum was Aggie thru and thru, they had no business losing him. How'd that work out for Aggie? Don't know about Mangino at KU, he had them going better than anyone ever had. However, The Pirate, was meant for Tech. He would have done better for them than anyone. I am shocked Tupperware decided to go there, Lubbock is NOT his lifestyle and he will leave as fast as he can...

I agree, but at some point a coach becomes a liability, no matter how much he wins. At that point, you have to do what is best for the school, no matter how much it pisses off the myopic fan base.

I find it totally ironic that people were making the same jokes about Mangino. Maybe... Kansas just isn't meant to be fun. Perhaps, to be at KU is to be in a no-fun zone. Perhaps, Rooock CHaaaaaaalk Jaaayyyyhawwwwwwk Kaaaaaayyyuuuuuuu really is a boring chant.

Not that we ever fought with recruits over them - not football ones anyway - but any edge they had by hiring Gill to get recruits to consider KU is gone. GONE! Just like Mangino, Perkins, revenue from your stolen tickets and any chance of ever having a respectable football program, GONE!
