In the Sagarin rankings this morning the Sooners are ranked #2 in the ELO-CHESS. This is the result of being 5-0 against the 15th strongest schedule - Congrats SOONERS!! This is the ranking that the BC$ uses when its rankings come out and it only considers which team won or lost games, not the margin of victory (1-point OT win same as a 50-point drubbing).
However, the Predictor ranking for OU is all the way down at #12, which is quite a large difference. Sagarin states the predictor is more accurate in predicting the outcome of future games than ELO-CHESS. Indeed the close outcomes have many a Sooner fan fretting about upcoming conference games.
Bottom line is the Sooners look good in the short term, for the first BCS rankings, but the predictor suggests the Sooners could drop some upcoming games. Fortunately, however, NONE of the #1-11 Predictor-ranked teams is in the Big-12 Conference (Nebrasker=17,Texas=21, OkState=24, Mizzourah=26).
