Alright everyone. Time for your intelligent input on this one.

Now this question was actually posed by me in a thread on my first ever post on SoonerFans, but I wanted to dedicated a whole topic for this question.

As we all know Keith Jackson is one of the greatest players in collegiate history, and receives his due respect. My question is, what about his pro career with the eagles, dolphins, and packers? Not only was he terrific, but he received recognition for it at the time as well.

Let us look at the stats:

6x pro bowl selection (88, 89, 90,92,93,96)

5x all-pro selection (88, 89, 90,92, 96)

and a member of the superbowl winning packer team in 1996 that was debateably the greatest offense in NFL history, in which he was a major contribution

With that is mind, why isn't he mentioned in the same category as some of the great tight ends in history?

No idea since he was one of my all time favorites. Him and Cunningham made me an Eagles fan for a long time.

Tight ends are generally not glory boys. BTW I thought this thread was gonna be about the senile abc dude.

One of the great offensive plays of all time for us. Hard to say which is number one, (subject for another thread) but this one is definitely one of the top 5.

Being part of a two-tightend combo with Mark Chamura at Green Baylessens some of his luster I am sure.

Sharing TE duties in GB with Chmura lessened his impact .Had he been a feature TE rather than part of a duo in GB he would have more of a legendary status.

Well he did provide some of the worst memories of my childhood. He has that going against him.

Playing only nine years and less than 130 career games hurts his legacy as well as his career numbers to other TEs and noted pass catchers. That said I still think the 5 time Pro Bowler will be the 4th Sooner to make the NFL HOF.

Just kidding. I loved Keith Jackson as a Packer, but had no idea he was from OU till I moved here and saw tributes to some great tight end named Keith Jackson, so I put 2 and 2 together.

I really, really wish that he didn't retire after that Super Bowl victory. We could have used him in the next year's.
