I have seen some of the post of the Sooner forums about where everyone plans to visit to eat before or after the game. Some of the suggestions are pretty much the same old thing. Nothing wrong with that but try some of where many of the locals eat.

I live in Denton and entertain in Dallas frequently.

Just a few personal favorites;

Brazilian churaseria (sp?)

Boi Na Braza in Grapevine
Fans of Texas de Brazil and Fogo will find this outstanding. It gets really high ratings from Zagat.

Steak houses;
Get away from Bob's and Pappa's Brothers (nothing wrong with either)
and maybe try these local favorites:
Chamberlains in Addison
Perry's in uptown
Bailey's Prime across from North Park Mall on the east side of US 75.

Seafood
Oceanaire
McCormick and Smicks
Chamberlains Seafood Market
Cafe Pacific

Upscale or hard to categorize
The Mercury
Bijoux
Stephen Pyle's
Fearings
Hector's
Hibiscus
Abacus
Dali's Wine Bar

Italian
Patrizios (the Highland Park Village location in Highland Park)
Arcodoro in the Crescent Court hotel

One to try with out breaking the budget
Breadwinners (the uptown McKinney location) surprising creative well prepared food at a rather reasonable price for Dallas

Breakfast
Breadwinners (a personal favorite)
Buzzbrew (the one on Lemon Ave. has more room)
Cafe Brazil (preferably the Central Expressway or lower Greenville locations. The Elm Street Deep Ellum location if you want a bit of funkiness)

There are thousands of restaurants in Dallas but I go to these when I'm spending my own coin.

I agree that Patrizio's is WAY overrated. We've been there a couple of times and wondered both times why the place was packed. Very average IMO.

Don't waste your $ on some over-priced steak house. For best "bang" for buck, go to this place. Cold beer, decent BBQ & excellent scenery.

For the best pizza in town, go here (Legacy or Grapevine location as Henderson always has a huge wait).

Al Biernat's is the place if you want steak, quality wine priced right, excellent menu, price and talent (albeit older rich). :D

For lunch on the day after the game, Tio's Tortas on Lemmon. It looks kind of like a hole from the outside but is really good. I wouldn't go out of the way to have it but if you are in the area...

oh yeah, forgot all about Babe's Chicken Dinner House. Downtown Roanoke or in Sanger. Certified by my 95 year old, rancher's wife, grandmother. Only two things on the menu - Fried Chicken or Chicken Fried Steak. gotta love it.

Legendary suckage perhaps most overrated place mentioned.

If you want to stop at a place on the way home, legendary goodness abounds.

When I was working in Dallas I always enjoyed Texas Land & Cattle Company. They have a mesquite smoked sirloin that is one of the best bang for the buck steaks around, providing of course that you like mesquite smoked steaks. Are they still around?

LOL....half of this thread seems to be from frat boys looking for a beer buzz
and still trying to get lucky.

Bone Daddy's? Guess we're talking "boobie and bootie" as opposed to "foodie".
;)
:) Nothing wrong with the former. I'm 58 and been married to a great woman for over 30 years with both great bootie and boobies.:D

Anyway check my list and I think you'll see it stands up well with local and national food critiques as well people on yelp, tripadvisor, and such.:)

Your mileage may vary.:)

Joe T. Garcia's? The most overhyped tex-mex in north Texas.

Better then Chuy's? Try Desperado's and Cristina's. Matitto's in a pinch. Nothing wrong with the Taco Diner and Mi Cocina either. Cisco's is a southwest style in the Snider Plaza near SMU that is fairly solid. Also Via Real in irving is a bit expensive but not too bad for Santa Fe and tex-mex inspired foods. Several local chefs like it.

I picked Patrizio because it offers good value for the money. Most pasta dishes are under $13 in a nice atmosphere and solid service. We ARE talking Dallas here. Things tend to be a bit more expensive here then in OKC or Tulsa.

BBQ frankly I'm not real enamored with most in Dallas. actually I prefer Red Hot and Blue to most local offerings. If we're talking Texas style BBQ Peggy Sue's near SMU isn't too bad. Sonny Bryan's is overrated IMO. There's a real good joint in Red Oak (Randy's I believe that probably has the best 'que in north Texas.
