No Amtrack service from OKC to Dallas this weekend. Some type of dispute with the owners of the Sante Fe Depot in OKC. If you had reservations you have to go to Norman to catch the train.

that seems like some bad timing...

i still think there should be a line from OKC to Tulsa to KC

Nope. That's why God invented cabs, shuttles, and teenagers who are responsible.

Plans are in the works. If they could get a line from Tulsa to Newton, Kansas then they could connect to the rest of the U.S. A line running from LA to Chicago runs through Newton.

There are a lot of ideas out there that people have been working on for years as far as mass public transit goes. The gubberment passed a HUGE stimulus to get cities to invest in public transportation.

the whole FTW thing kinda kills the romance for me as well. i don't think i've ever had any reason to go there, unless it's to drive to Waco, or Austin or something.

riding a bus from there to Dallas doesn't really sound appetizing

Drive from Amtrack Fort Worth station to Cotton Bowl a whopping 25 minutes.

I'm biased but if you haven't been to downtown Fort Worth you are missing something.

I want one of those fancy trains that use magnets to take me from OKC to Dallas

Until then, trains are pointless unless you live in the Northeast where everything is like 15-50 miles away.

I go to Fort Worth for one reason, Joe T Garcia's

but if i'm on a train, i don't have a car. i really tend to dislike buses.

i'm sure Ft. Worth is nice, but if i'm headed to Dallas to do something, i'm generally thinking about getting there, not checking out the parasitic twin :D

Who needs a depot. Jus' have the train slow to 5 mph and everyone hop-on.

You walk 6 blocks and hop the commuter and go right downtown D in about 45 minutes. No car needed.

you can take the TRE from the Ft. Worth station to Dallas. it takes forever, though.

the thing that's amazing about the HF, is once you cross into Texas everything sucks. in Oklahoma....quaint rural train stations, the white knuckle ride through the Arbuckles...see some bald eagles.....cross into TX, everything sucks.
