View Full Version : OUr defense is f'ing terrible...

...there. I said it.

I remember back when teams could chip at us, but by the time they'd gotten a first down or two, they were usually the ones due for the mistake. Now it seems like every play against us is a first down. What's with all the big plays against our defense? This would have never happened if Bob Stoops' (fire) was still alive.

In total agreement. This is a sucky defensive display.

That last play looked really bad. Now what are we going to do. We're gonna have to put our offense back on the field and let those lousey defensive players sit on the bench now.

StoopTroup
9/25/2010, 08:16 PM
OH oh we have to put our lousey offense back on the field after recoverying that fumble from DJ Woods.....lol

the_ouskull
9/25/2010, 08:17 PM
No, our offense looks like crap too, don't get me wrong. I mean, not that it's not brilliant to rush to the line and get plays off quickly the first three downs, and then run some kind of b*stard counter draw on 3rd and 7?

If D.J. Woods wasn't a legit ruhtard, we'd be losing this football game to Cinci-freakin'-natti. Think about that...

Defense is tired man.

The offense is not helping.

It's obvious Demarco Murray has the swine flu today which is ok....**** happens and players have bad days. But you compensate. Dont hand off the ball to him on 3rd and 7 24-22.....Jesus Kevin Wilson

I don't remember where I heard it, but the theory isn't mine... but it's the Milton Berle theory. I think that, right now, we're only pulling out enough to win. That's not what champions do unless they do it every single game, and has there ever seen a national champion that looked as poorly as we have thus far this season?

Jones? He was the best player on the field tonight.

He saved our offense. We couldn't run for squat. Jones threw for 370 yards.
The D was giving up 5 yards per carry at one point.

Give credit where credit is due. And Jones deserves some credit tonight.

Look at it this way. We are 4-0. Texas is not. And the texas offense is much worse than OUr defense.

In 2002 ; Ohio State played at Cincy, Cincy had 4 plays from inside the 20 at the very end of the game; the receivers dropped 3 balls in the end zone, Ohio state won 23-19. Ohio State went on to win the National championship.
So the answer is yes.

Best player for OU tonight was Woods for the other team.
O-line cant block. Defense cant defend the run or pass. OU lucky to get out of there with a win.

Landry Jones was pretty effing good, and the OL pass blocked very well. And blocked very well in the short yardage running.

Is it just me or does it seem like nobody on this defense can shed a block? When I watch them I see guys getting stood up and blocked out of their shoes on just about every down including our blitzes. It's like they're all just standing there getting blocked watching the QB's eyes constantly.

IMO the d line is the problem! We can't get any pressure on the qb or when we have him dead to rights we let him run around until the wide out gets behind th Db's? This looks like the 06-07 d? Too many missed tackles!

there is definitely something to this

definitely...Cincy had given up an average of 5 sacks a game...

Too not see us able to get a lot of pressure throughout the game was a little disheartening...

The play of McGhee was nice though

Same here. I figured they'd be gunning after us pretty hard since we ran up the score two years ago and broke their QB's arm (leg? I forget). But, I am still concerned about the D not getting off the field on 3rd and long consistently. I am sure we can/will improve as the D-line and LBs mature because I think our DBs are playing great.

here is the problem..The LB's in this system are typically undersized, so guys like wort and lewis depend on the dline taking up blockers so they can run around and make plays..

when those undersized lb's don't have guys to protect them, they can't get off of blocks..sometimes they dont make a great effort to get off those blocks(t lewis)

We did get held a lot. I think the main reason why we didn't get any pressure was because Collaros' scrambling ability. He always stepped up in the pocket and I think the defense was just trying to be over aware at times. Especially on the long pass when he scrambled all the way to the side. I can't stress the holds enough though some were clear as day.
