Personally, I think he could be a kicker in the NFL and former Sooner. But you are entitled to your opinion.

made 70 yarders in Colorado in 2007 in pregame. Just saying.

I assume you're talking about the Colorado fiasco... we weren't in FG range the whole fourth quarter, I don't think.

Would he make it if it were partially blocked, though? :)

He missed 2 field goals the 1st game, but I think he was rusty. He has a solid chance of being one of the great NFL kickers.

That 37 yarder he made at the end of the game looked it might be good from 40 (at the most). He better start kicking more consistently or it could be a race whether the Dallas or New Orleans kicker gets cut first.

It was blocked though. But yeah it was low. I'm tellin ya though after the NFC Champ and the Superbowl, he's not losing that job. Plus he's a great kicker.

Are you serious? The dude won them the NFC championship game. On top of that, his kicks kept the Saints in the super bowl. He missed 2 the first game this season, but he was probably just rusty. Then he wins them a big Monday night game. They aren't about to oust him over the 1st game, which they won.

Not to rain on the Garrett praise thread, but there are several stories out there now that Harrrrrtley couldn't pull off a big kick against Atlanta (Nawlins ended up losing the game).

Anyone hear anything? Does he get another chance, or are they auditioning replacements?

:( no job security for NFL kickers.

Morning Animals said there were two guys coming in this week to try out, one them was a former Saints kicker or something. Appears that they are not happy.

Don't you just love how receivers can drop easy catches, running backs can fumble, defensive backs can miss their assignments, QB's can complete passes to the other team, offensive linemen can give up sacks... but kickers.

KICKERS. CAN'T. MISS.

Like, ever. You miss, you'll end up as a cross-dressing villain in a Jim Carrey screaming "LACES OUT!" at any mention of Dan Marino.

Garrett, we still love you! :(

The big question was weather Hartley lost his mojo... two bad misses in the first game... then the missed kick in OT yesterday that cost them the game. Didn't the Dallas kicker get bumped for the same reason. He seems to be doing well on another team.

Viniateri as well.

Yep, no love for kickers when they miss a few.

Didn't he kick one to get them to overtime?

One of the guys they are bringing in i John Carney, who was sort of a mentor for Hartley and may be used in taht role again. But face it, miss a few 29-yard game winners and you'd better hope you got your diploma because you'll be needing a real job soon. Fair or not.

Knowing absolutely nothing about kicking, I think he's got a technical problem more than a mental problem. A lot of his shorter kicks seem to hook in the same nasty way.
