That was just about the most awesome thing I'd ever seen. I wish we'd play up there again sometime. Everything they had in the hangar they fueled up and sent over.

The world changed forever just a few days later..... :(

And I don't mean going vertical.... I mean knife edge pass and make a left-turn in Albuquerque... on a dime. I've seen it now that I've seen the Raptor.

For noise that bad boy has a nasty afterburner effect. It doesn't so much roar as makes the entiry atmosphere crackle like a nearby lightning strike.

If you get to see one at an airshow, it is worth the price of admission. (It happened to be at an airshow where the Blues were also performing... so it was hella cool!)

If I'm not mistaken they actually had a AWAC's from Tinkers 152nd fly up there and take part in the there armada of aircraft that culminated with 2 F4s going vertical w/afterburners directly over the field.....can you say chicken skin...uhhh I think so.

I'm a SAC brat - my Daddy was a tail gunner on B-52s. I LOVE those things. AWESOME. Looking at them on the ground, you'd never think they could become airborne, but when they're flying they're BEAUTIFUL. Second-favorites are Warthogs (A-10s).

My cousin is in the Colorado Highway Patrol . He told me that an officer got fired for pointing his Laser speed gun at an F-15 on takeoff from Buckley AFB. He wanted to clock it to see how fast it was going. It caused the airplane to drop chaff and flares on takeoff.

Someone needs to do that at the game. That would scare the hell out of the crowd LOL.

The only complaint my FSU buddies had about our pre-game last week was the lack of a fly-over. Somehow, that is a really big deal to them down in Talahassee. Being 9/11, they couldn't image not having one.

However, with AFA coming to Memorial Stadium this week, I think that explains why we didn't have one last week, but will have in Joe C's words "the best pre-game flyover, ever." for the AFA.

Chicago just happened to be throwing its big air show at the same time the game was on, so looking outside the stadium we got to see most all the inventory flying. F15s and 16s, B 52, B 2, maybe a 117, some civilian stuff.

Didn't get the thunder effect of the direct flyover, but it was good to see anyway.
