Not in the sense of a loss, but has he ever had a team play back to back terrible games.

If memory serves me correct, when they normally play terrible one week they are amazing the next. Then again, I could be missing something. I'm not trying to be smart.. I'm really wanting to know.

I don't recall any but.....
maybe in 2005, they laid an egg at ucla but not sure who they played before and after that.

Oh, I know. The loss to SUC then losing to TCU in the home opener. They were quite a ways apart but still they were back to back.

Maybe first 3 games of 2005. The Tulsa game was a major struggle.

We'll be fine. We play at home where we're 67-2 now I believe. Stoops has been preparing for this game for some time now. I think that's why we played so crappy against USU. We didn't prepare for them it was FSU all along. We rarley lose 2 games in a row. I think the only time that has happened was the 99 season and the 03 season. Even in 05 and 09 we didn't lose 2 in a row.

So funny how people talk about the USU game as a loss. :D

Hey, don't get me wrong. I certainly didn't count it as a WIN.

I'm hoping we see the real Sooners this Saturday afternoon.

I had thought of that, but that wasn't a terrible game. If Clayton catches that late pass they tie the game at the end. Losing by 7 in a title game isn't a terrible game. Now, that K-state loss was a terrible game.

probably the 2005 season, like rawlings mentioned...lose to tcu, need a 4th down conversion TD by AD at the end to seal the deal against tulsa, and then the ucla game where i've never seen so many fumbled snaps...

I hated the Sugar Bowl game. I remember Jason White overthrowing Kejaun in the endzone as well...

I say there is a difference between playing badly and just being bad. '05 was a green and not very good football team at the start. They were out-matched in early games and gradually became a pretty good team by bowl time. The KSU/LSU games in the '03 season was great team playing badly. It was more like 1.5 games as only the first half of the LSU was played poorly, but enough that they couldn't quite dig out.

to me fumbling 5 or 6 times in a game because you can't exchange the snap...thats playing badly because 4th graders can do that more consistently than they did

I agree on the particular, but I still think the '05 team's capability was pretty limited to start the season. Being outmatched makes it easy for the opponent to force even more errors and make a team look really bad. Personally, I think '05 was one of the best years for our coaching staff if you look at the progression over the season. The greenest team in the Stoops era by far and they ended up beating a solid 10 win Oregon and it wasn't a fluke. Textbook example of a rebuilding success.

The 01 Baylor game was pretty fugly, despite the score. We lost to the bugeaters the following week.

I guess that would be back to back for Stoops, but many of the starters in the USC game were on NFL rosters when the TCU game rolled around. Not even close to the same team.

Even if we were looking ahead to FSU, it's hard to imagine coming out flat and uninspired for a season opener in your own house in front of 85,000 fans.

I dont think a 21 point lead is coming out flat......

You're right. Poor performances are often stereotyped as flat, whether it be the case or not. Personally, I've never seen anybody not up for a season opener, regardless of opponent.
