I've seen occasional items with that version on Ebay quite a few times, sometimes in unworn condition. You just have to watch constantly.

I HATED that logo. The current one is sooo much better. That one just screams "tacky 70s-early 90s."

So you spent the first 20-some years thinking OU was 'tacky' until the logo changed?

Eh, I like the new one best, but I definitely think the old one is a cool classic too. But I've only been around for this decade, so what can I say...;)

There are more than just the 2.

Yea, true.

The university basically hates the slanted logos

The simple one on the top left is the best of the slanted ones since it's nice and basic and not trying to look like some kinda Oregon style bullshattery.

The only good thing about the slanted logo is that it is the one that was in the endzones when the Sooners were hanging half a hunnerd on 'em back in Switzer's days.

But I am among those who likes the current, blocky no nonsense version that we use now.

If you are looking for a vintage speedo...PM Dean, I think he can get you in contact with someone.

God, I HATE the disco OU logo...

I don't think my Uncle Gene knows his hat is 'vintage'. ;)

Anyone know the exact timeline of the slanted logo? I'm guessing it was done away with in 94 or about. I remember in 95 everything went Nike, and the blockier logo started coming back.

Well the disco OU logo was I think in use in 1978 or 1979. Can anyone go further back?

I remember it being a late-70s thing. I remember that in the mid-70s, they tried for a short while to put out an OU logo where the U overlaid the O, but the O was red and the U was white. I had a commemorative Dr Pepper bottle with that thing on it. It didn't last long at all.

I thought the varsity-letters "OU" was a Bob implementation. I'm not sure, though. I do like it better, but the slanted has some pretty good memories attached to it for me.

I wonder how old the cap is in that image, because that style of interlocking OU was only used in 1966, I think. That was the first year they had OU on the helmets.

Edit: I mean the image at the link, not the one shown.

I don't know which is worse: seeing that crappy squarish slanted logo again, or hearing it called "vintage" and "old school." :O

i'm 20 years old...most everything pre-1990 might as well be ancient to me. :D

hence the usage of "vintage". also, thanks for the tips so far...except the speedo from dean. that's just disturbing.

I didn't think it at the time, but I do now. It's sort of like how nobody really realized how tacky the 70s were until it was over.

I just bought a few shirts that have this version on it. They have recently started putting out "vintage" designs (Nike stuff that I've seen). If you go to the soonersports.com store, they have some. I've also seen some in Finish Line maybe.

We were all too stoned to notice how tacky the 70's were at the time . . .
