Back-up to Steven Jackson is a serious concern for St. Louis.

Rams add RB Patrick to practice squad
BY JIM THOMAS | Posted: Tuesday, September 7, 2010 5:02 pm

The St. Louis Rams completed their eight-man practice squad Tuesday by adding running back Allen Patrick. Patrick was a seventh-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2008 out of the University of Oklahoma.

Patrick has bounced around to several teams since then, most recently the Indianapolis Colts, but has yet to play in a regular-season NFL game. He spent most of his rookie season on Cleveland's practice squad, and part of '09 on practice squads in Jacksonville and with the New York Giants. Patrick, 6-1, 196, was on Cleveland's active roster the final three games of '08, but didn't see game action.

At Oklahoma, Patrick rushed for 1,906 yards over three seasons, including 1,009 as Adrian Peterson's replacement in 2007.

The Rams had four wide receivers and a safety in for free-agent workouts Tuesday. But all were in on an evaluation basis only, for future consideration if the Rams need to replace injured or under-performing players.

only flaw i ever saw in him is his uncanny ability to become invisible the second he recovers onside kicks.

Cool. He was here with the Jags for awhile, I was hoping he'd stay and I could watch him and Teddy Lehman, who is still here, but good for him, hope he makes the team.

Just seeing that picture again makes me furious. How could a referee crew be so totally incompetent?

As for Patrick, I always thought he was under rated at running back. Having to follow AD probably hurt him some. I remember when I went to school at OU I lived in the same apartment complex as him. Only knew that because he drove the ugliest brown/orange Oldsmobile looking car with 22's on it and it always used to be parked down the way from my house. Good running back though, didn't know he was even still around in the NFL.

I hear ya, I was thinking the same thing again.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand...maybe they'll be impressed w/AP and he can get some game time eventually. Time will tell

He's had good camps with different teams but just hasn't made a team..this will be his 3rd season on a practice squad, so he will no longer be eligible after this season...

Before he got to OU, I saw him at DB when Indy came here for a game w/ the Blue Dragons (this was the game he broke his leg in). I still, without reservation, say that he was the closest thing to TRRW that I've seen since #38 roamed the OU D-backfield. We had Indy out-manned big time across the board, but the offense couldn't do squat until he got hurt.

When I think of AP, the first memory that comes to mind was him getting booed on senior day.

what! Why?

rawlingsHOH
9/8/2010, 12:52 AM
what! Why?

Sooner Fan was angry. About Patrick's lack of production and about the Texas Tech loss, and placed the blame on Allen Patrick's fumble, which inadvertantly led to Bradford's concussion. So they decided the best place to vent their frustration was on Senior Day. That'll show him.

He ended up going for 200+ and a couple of TDs that day. So then they cheered.

I wonder if Sam had any part in either bringing on Clayton or Patrick. That's great news for Patrick.

IMHO, if the Rams picked up Patrick Crayton from Dallas they would give defenses real problems. They already have Steven Jackson, Clayton & Amendola. It wouldn't hurt to pick up another serious Tight End who could help block.

Yep, I believe it was even the same day the newspaper ran a story about him losing a premature born (???) daughter.

Sickening. Proabably my worst experience ever at the Stadium.

If he was booed that is just wrong, he seemed like a legitimately nice guy, and he played so hard he was a joy to watch.

Perhaps.

I was near midfield (maybe 104 or 105), upper deck, west side. Maybe just a smattering, but prevelent around me.

Patrick came out in tears with his mom.

I don't think they're under any obligation to call him by his nickname. In fact, it could be considered unprofessional.
