True story - was taking dear mother to a local plant nursery, and as soon as we get out of the car, she finds $17 on the ground. Immediately, she asks the man who was about to pull away in the truck next to us "Excuse me sir, did you drop some money?" and showed him the cash she picked up. The guy pretended to check his pocket, then said "Yes" so mom handed him the money. He was like "Thank you. Really, thank you." And left.

I gave mom a thin smile and she said "Well, we did the right thing even if that wasn't his."

Either way, we made that guy's day - he either got the money he dropped from a kind stranger, or a kind stranger handed him a free 17 bucks.
