What do all of these games have in common?

OU 19, texass 14 -- Came out of the tunnel slow; didn't look like they were into it.

OU 27, Colorado 20 -- Intro vid not up to snuff. Too grainy.

OU 14, Missouri 7 -- Used Crazy Train as theme song. Players tired of it, especially the black players who wanted Tupac.

OU 21, TCU 16 -- Team's entrance held up so that opponent's band could get off the field. Totally killed it.

We aren't going to blow out every "cupcake" we play. We still have no idea what this team can do.

Not one of those games has any relevance to last Saturday's game?

Explain.

Here's one for ya: OU tavels to Minnesoooda for the season opener. A team that had won 8 games over the previous 3 years only lost by a TD to OU. That was 1985. Aside from the Miami loss, the only other teams to come within 2 TDs were texass and LosuR.

There are a couple of points here...

1) Having a schidty first game is not necessarily indicative of a schidty season. In fact, several of OUs best teams have struggled early including the 1985 National Championship team, the 1978 team (who was one fumble away from another NC, and who The King has said several times was his best team), the 1977 team, the 1975 NC team, the 1973 team, and the undefeated 1954 team. What happened Saturday can be fixed. My expectations haven't lessened a bit from what they were Friday night: a BigXII Championship and a berth in the NC game.

2) USU isn't a poosycat offense: they scored over 30 points 5 times last season. In fact, they averaged 29 PPG last season. This isn't the same USU that got plowed like a drunk sorority girl in Norman 3 years ago. They're going to win some ball games this year.

Very true. But I will take the under on 47 wins in a row.:)

Probably a safe bet.

Explain.

I can't explain your leap of faith.

You need to explain how narrow victories over national powers (Mizzou perhaps the lone exception on your list) of the 50's equates in any way shape or form to a narrow victory over a nobody/never was.

Even your Minnesota comparison = small FAIL. The bottom feeders of the Big 10 most years (especially back in the 80's) were/are several notches above a bad WAC program, especially if they bring in a known (very well known to us at the time) commodity like Holtz.

If you want to offer that it was reasonable that USU would get a fair amount of yards on us going into the game, I can buy what you're selling.

That does not excuse a fairly putrid performance by Landry and the offense against a fair (at best) WAC defense. And don't bother highlighting DeMarco's rushing total.... that was on 35 carries when it should have been on about 10-15 less than that.

Of course... just my opinion... which means zippity-do-da...

We aren't going to blow out every "cupcake" we play. We still have no idea what this team can do.You forgot the game in '54 or '55 where we LOST to aTm....at least momentarily.aTm player caught a seeming TD and then handed the ball to the ref who signalled the TD and told him he didn't actually make the catch.I don't recall the particulars and right now I'm too lazy to look it up.
