I've been hearing this a lot, but I'm not buying it. We took a 21-0 lead. Letting up and playing to the level of competition are more along the lines of what I'm thinking.

Very disappointed play by our Sooners tonight. Of all the areas we were concerned about going into this season, the kicking game was OK. Yes, O'Hara's fg was ugly, but he made it and Way was very good. The 85 yard punt was incredible. Almost made new school record.

I was excited to see how our O line would live up to the talk that they were improved. I was happy to not see a bunch of penalties like last year and happy to see Murray with over 200 yards, but they didn't exactly push Utah State around.

The defense was the least of my worries, however, they had me screaming at the TV more than anything. I expected better pressure and all around play. Their receivers had our secondary beat on several plays. We had a few gifts tonight (i.e. Utah State drop passes). I was scared seeing T. Lewis come off the field shaky, but he came back and made some big plays. Q. Carter had a great game. Plus, Adrian Taylor getting some playing time was awesome to see. Now, how are we going do against a much better O line, better athletes, and a more accurate passer.

Most of all, Landry Jones has got to shake this game off and play better. I had hoped to see more confidence tonight after the way he ended the year and from what we were hearing this Summer. We can't blame it all on the receivers dropping a bunch of balls tonight.

After all the frustration tonight I still have hope. I've seen enough OU teams get better as the year goes on. Thank God next week's game is at home.

Nelson got burned a few times as well, but the passes were overthrown. Flemming stepped it up in the 4th and got the game saving pick.

on one hand it's easy to look at the box score and say wow, we suck. but i'm trying not to make too big of a deal out of it for the fact that it was the first game of the season, and we went up 21-0 and kinda went to sleep after that. plus, i think people are underrating all the players we lost on defense last year. sure our defense is talented, but we are breaking in what, 6 new starters?

Okay here's how I'm looking at this after going back over the box score.

If KW doesn't call a pass on 1st and goal from the 10 at the beginning of the 4th and we score we go up 38-24.

Then if Bob gets cold blooded and doesn't call two kneels from the 6 to end the game we go up 45-24.

That isn't far off from what I predicted so I feel better. I freely admit I'm grasping at straws here, but still.
