Rams' Spagnuolo names QB Bradford opening-day

It didn't take long for St. Louis Rams rookie quarterback Sam Bradford to assume the throne.
Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo on Saturday named Bradford, the No. 1 overall draft pick in April's draft, the starter for next Sunday's opener against the Arizona Cardinals at home.

Bradford moved to first string when veteran A.J. Feeley, who had been the starter through training camp, sprained the thumb on his throwing hand in a preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Aug. 21.

Spagnuolo said he anticipated that Feeley would return to practice Monday, but he wasn't sure if the quarterback was ready to take direct snaps.

In his two starts during the preseason, Bradford was 21-of-28 passing for 257 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions.

Thanks Badger...I saw it on espn bottom line, yet their website hasn't posted a link yet.

Good luck to Sam, we know he'll make us proud. Hopefully their O-Line can come together and keep him safe.

Hoo boy...I get the Rams every Sunday, and couldn't bear to watch them last year. What a difference a year makes!

I'm not surprised. Hopefully they give him more time in the pocket than they did in his first game against Minnesota. That was pathetic. He'd get two-and-a-half steps into his five step dropback and he'd have to scramble or spike the ball.

I would play him just enough to keep the fans coming to the game. They're not going to win the Super Bowl this year regardless, so why not prep him for next year?

But, I'm not the coach.
