In terms of a coach looking to coach at that particular school.

In no particular order:

1) Oklahoma
2) Florida
3) USC
4) *
5)Alabama

Any other possible top contenders?

Well I would think number 5 would obviously be OU special teams coach and it would go up from there.

Ohio State, Michigan. People might argue Ohio State belongs there before places like Bama and OU.

After all they have like 13 national championship claims.

So if we start claiming total bullshat OU magically becomes a better coaching job?

USC, even though it would probably rank as a top 5 PROGRAM of all time on many lists, would not be a great JOB to have right now, IMO. There is a difference.

My top 5 college football COACHING JOBS in no particular order and at this point in time:

Bama
Florida
T*xas
OU
Ohio St

1. Tennessee
2. Penn State
3. UCLA
4. Texas A&M
5. Virginia Tech

Those would be my preferences, all of those schools dont have to much pressure and not that many championships. Easy schools to work for and recruit to as well.

I think I would take Florida Atlantic purely out of spite.

Agree... besides, nobody would mistake Lane Kiffiekins for a top-five coach, so if that place were truly a top-five job, I'm sure they would have attracted top-five talent during this last coaching search.

Seems like money would be the most important factor - like most jobs - but if you just want to coach for the love of it - there are 1000's upon 1000's of kids that need free, quality coaching -

Any time you have 1000's of fans watching every game - There is a lot of pressure - That comes with the gig!

I think the money thing for coaches is similar to the money thing for players - it's a sign of respect and standing amongst your peers.

That said, it was funny watching Sammie going up against three-time Super Bowl winning QB Tom Brady this past week because of the contract thing - needless to say, Brady is getting VERY disrespected :D

Who in their right mind would want to coach at Texas?
Uh, somebody who wants every resource known to man available in order to provide a winning product on the field?

No less a source than one Barry Switzer has repeatedly said that Texas is the #1 coaching job in the nation. Now, one can debate that down to a few minor points here & there, but there is no debating that it's an elite situation to be in as far as location & materials to work with.

anything over 400,000 sounds good to me. I mean i will desire alot of money, but i really just want to coach. Not high school though.

I would absolutely agree. Texas can basically press a button and print their own money when it comes to financially supporting their football program----there is virtually no limit to what they spend. And it's not just because of rich oil men either. In apparel, merchandising, and licensing revenue alone, Texas ranked no. 1 in the country in the latest rankings--OU was either 10th or 11th. Bama was a distant 2nd.

Agreed, but would swap places between you all and the buckeyes. I'm not exactly a big fan of OKC/Norman but would live there in a new york second before I'd spend one night in Columbus, OH.

Apparently some think it is. Switzer himself is an Arkansas alum, & for whatever reason (I still haven't figured that one out as we virtually never play them) good luck in finding another fanbase that hates OU as much as they do, & yes, I do include Texas in that (from personal experience). Those situations work both ways.

agree. while our states care more about college football than most others, the media and fans aren't all crazy like they are in huge market areas (ie where pro teams are) so aside from the crazy woman that met saban at the airport (that was funny, btw), bammer fans don't seem to be too obsessed to the point of saban not being able to go out with his family or something like stoops can here.

These are the top jobs in college football. Each will make their claim to being the best for whatever reason. Once you get one of these you are either fired because you are a fool....or you are fool for leaving. How much money you make is only a function of how many championships you win, and how many offers you get to leave.
