Oklahoma maintained the highest Academic Progress Rate among Big 12 Conference football programs for the third straight year, according to figures released by the NCAA.

The Sooners scored a 962, which was 19 points higher than the league average and four points higher than second-place Missouri.

Oklahoma State scored a 945, tying Baylor for sixth in the Big 12 behind OU, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Texas.

Colorado was the only conference school penalized for failing to reach the NCAA-mandated benchmark score of 925. The Buffaloes scored a 920 and lost five scholarships.

According to the NCAA, the APR "awards two points each term to student-athletes who meet academic eligibility standards and who remain with the institution. A team's APR is the total points earned by the team at a given time divided by the total points possible."

But isn't Colorado leaving for the academically superior PAC 10/PAC 12?
No wonder the P10/2 is trying to reject them now.
Hope the B12/10 tells CU "No Thanks" and they end up int the MWC or WAC.

That's academic progress, (Progress being the key word) so if your already top of the chart, your not gonna do well on this chart.

With all the loses the shorties Bball and Fball team have had, I seriously doubt they are at the top.

No, it is not a ranking of the progress the institution is making in academics. The NCAA is monitoring the academic progress of the student athletes - not the academic progress of the university.

"Each Division I sports team calculates its APR each academic year, based on the eligibility and retention of each scholarship student-athlete. Teams scoring below 925 out of 1,000 can face penalties, such as scholarship losses and restrictions on practice and competition. Rates are based on the past four years’ performance."
